Seen a lot of posts on this, but none that answer my question. My 02 156 don't have the facility to add the control stalk, anyone know if all the wiring can be fitted, if I get it from a donor car, as I have the chance to get the cruise control kit.

Cheers

To install cruise you need a CF3 engine which are drive by wire. All previous engines had a throttle cable. I believe they were introduced in the 156 with the interior facelift but I'm not sure (may have been around before). If you have the interior facelift then you should find the white connector under the steering wheel. If you don't have an interior facelift but are certain you have a CF3 engine you MAY be able to install the wiring, but I've never heard of it being done.

The interior facelift came in 2002
CF3 engines came in Sept 2000
The V6 & Selespeed were always fly-by-wire.

To retro-fit cruise-control you need an interior facelift car.

I thought they may have come earlier but wasn't sure. I knew seles were drive by wire (obviously) but I didn't realise the V6 was too.

Correct, I have done it to my 02 plate facelift. You just need the stalk which you can by from alfa for about £60 and either buy the cowel with the cut out for about £15 or cut a whole with a hacksaw.

Interior Facelift came about in Early 2002. You can do this addition to those cars.

Exterior facelift and minor revisions to cockpit were in November 2003.

Not poss, needs to be a interior facelift model. Unless you fit an aftermarket kit.

I know this is an old thread, but I never knew that the 156 had cruise control at all. I thought that being an Italian car it was purely a driving machine...

Anyways I came to know about it just recently when I purchased a brochure of the 2002 model (my car) from ebay.
My car was considered a full option here and doesn't have the cruise control stalk. So does that mean that my car doesn't have all the connections to install the stalk???? Or does it have, I just didn't know about it.

What you do is remove the lower coweling from around the steering wheel (I think three screws) and check for an unused white connector - you should also have a light symbol which looks like a speedo between the speedo and rev counter.

If you have all these then it is a simple job to retro-fit - there is a long thread on the forum which contains all the fitting details and the part numbers you need (they are reasonably cheap from a dealer (for once).

I can't say that I've noticed a light like that in between the speedo and rev counter.
Perhaps for the middle east there isn't a cruise control option or, my car is one of the few without it.
It is possible to add it if you haven't got the provisions..... ????

If you search for the fitting cruise control thread you will find everything you need to know, including photos IIRC.
