I have a 2001 156 2.4 JTD which started to loose the clutch pedal about 6 months ago. I put this down to the slave cylinder which has since been replaced. The clutch took a lot of bleeding, much more than to be expected but eventually got a pedal back. As time has gone on, the pedal as gradually been fading (not returning properly, very little travel) and is getting to how is was before. I have had it to the garage and they can't find anything wrong and have bled it again only for the problem to return. Any ideas? I'm guessing it's not an Alfa specific problem and that there is a leak somewhere in the system but does anyone have a clue as to the most likely cause?!
Many thanks

Sounds like the master cylinder has failed. Fairly common after a change of slave. Most garages should have picked this up.
