Adjustment is at handbrake lever under gaiter. 13mm nut. Maybe your cables or caliper are partially seized - assuming discs and pads are ok

As above, there is no adjustment on the caliper, it is all internal and automatic.
BUT it may need the auto-adjustment in the caliper resetting, which would mean releasing the handbrake, make sure the lever on the caliper is also fully released and wind the pistons fully in with a rewind tool. Put everything back together and pump the foot brake to get the pistons back out into position again.
Then, if needed, adjust the adjuster nut under the handbrake lever.

Another cause of a poor handbrake is seized up slides on the rear calipers.

There is a rubber boot on the pins, which spilts and allows in water salt etc.

If this is the cause, it will often cause the pads to wear at a slight angle.

Cleaning the slides, a regrease and maybe new pads should get you through the MOT if this has happened.
