Hi there,

Just trying to coax my 155 through another MOT without handing over £££'s of cash - miracle of miracles it passed the emissions test (big problam last time out) after a liberal application of redex.

However, it has failed on both front headlight sidelights being out. I have poked around in th front and managed to take out and check the main headlight bulb (which is fine) and the indicator unit (which also seems ok) but cannot get at the actual sidelights themselves.

Anyone any pointers?

The sidelight bulbs are located between the dip and main beam H1 type bulbs. Sometimes the sidelight bulb holders can be tight, if so, use a pair of pliers to pull the bulb holders out (to the rear of the car). They might be tight, as the small bulbs tend to overheat and damage the bulb holders.

The sidelight bulbs slot into a holder which has bayonet fittings to fit into the back of the headlamp. You have to twist them 90 deg. anti-clockwise then pull them out.

The bulbs often melt the holder a bit (the holder then sticks to the flange that holds it in headlamp shell too), so it may be tight.
