Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone here can recommend some good independant garages in the West Midlands, UK?

Just had a bit of a shock at the cost of an annual service from Guest Alfa on a 147 TS 2.0.

Regards

Hi

Thanks for rapid response, I'll give them a call tomorrow. I'm based in Coventry so if anyone knows of any over this way too that are worth checking out that would be great.

Cheers

Just a quick update to say that I went with Simply Alfa's in the end and found them to be very decent, most reasonably priced of all those that I contacted and nice to have the use of a curtousy car for the day.

I wish I would have taken the newly bought 147 1.6ts to simply alfas now, have been changing the cambelt kit, variator and auxilary belts for bout 10 hours now and we still havent finished, me and me dad have changed a few cambelts on vauxhalls before, but the alfa is much harder to work on! Come accross seized bolts, dodgy instructions off the internet and setting the cambelt timing up seems to be a nightmare with the adjustable cam sprockets!

Had to adjust the exhaust cam sprocket as it was out when we fitted the new belt, with cam locks still fitted. Is this right? Could the timing have been out before? Only about half a tooth. Take it the two notches on the crank pulley and the exhaust cam pulley should align with the two white lines on the new belt?

Much easier to take it to one of the alfa specialists that were blessed with in the region. Well worth the £348 to leave it with simplyalfas for the day whilst having a pleasant day around the shops in the sunshine. ;-)

Finished it tonight, taken it out for a quick spin, drives so much better, very smooth all the way through the rev range, just so nice to drive!
