Hi gents, bought a 147 selespeed been standing for some time. At first she could not pass 2800 ish took her to a mechanic and told me cam sensor is either faulty or needs cleaning. The car was in for steering pump and rack replacement as well as new fan belt and tentioner, drove her a little then as time went on she could do 3000, now she does about 3300 ish , there is no noise indicating variator for the vvt. And no dead spots she drives like a peach, really need some advice please thanks guys.

Well did he do an ECU scan, It will show up.

If ECU scan confirms cam sensor, then fix it aranoid:

Variator has very little to do with absolute power - it increases the mid range power by 10% or so.

Check the MAF - quick test is to unplug it, go for drive and note if there are differences

Thanks for the tip, will check the MAF because there is no loss of power at all. And since the steering rack has been replaced it shows VDC light, could it be of wheel allignment?

Cleaning could still be useless. To confirm if maf sensor is defective disconnect it and go for a run without it. The engine will not idle so you will need to keep it reved up a little with your foot. If it revs over the 3k then its a maf 100%. Get one from a Bosch dealer might save yourself some cash too
A MAF with this fault might not turn the engine light on.

If you've replaced the steering rack and the VDC light is on you will need to calibrate the steering angle sensor.
