147 JTDm not starting/running Now with Video!!

I have a problem with my 54 reg 147 JTDm and hoping for some tips/pointers where to start looking.

Tuesday evening on the way home from work I was down on power while trying to pull away at lights on a couple of occasions but once I was on the motorway performance seemed to be normal and I forgot about the issue.

Yesterday morning I was able to start the car to move off the verge onto the road but then it spluttered to a halt and wouldn't run. If I leave it alone and try and start it will run very unevenly spluttering for Fuel/Air???? for a couple of seconds and then nothing. Engine turns freely on the starter.

Also I've had a glow plug warning on the dash for a little while but it's always started up ok. Could this be a factor?

you could check the maf and make sure EGR valve is able to function freely.

I would also take a look look at the turbo and induction hoses make sure one hasn't got a massive hole in it or has come off.

cheers Artermis, I've changed the hoses recently so it shouldn't hopfully be that. I assumed if it was the turbo it would just be down on power not in a state where it wouldn't even run.

I'll check the MAF and ERG to start with.

I had a look at this today with no luck but have eliminated a few things.

1stly I replaced the failed glow plug on cylinder no1

2nd I cleaned the ERG valve although it was sooted up it was moving freely and more so after I'd given it a clean.

3rd I tried the power to the injectors and removing each had a noticeable effect on how it ticked over. It whent from lumpy sounding to even worse.

4th I tried disconnecting the MAF and this did no use except to make the car cut out after running for a few seconds.

I can get the car started and after minutes of running like a dog it eventually starts to tick ove almost as normal however it will not rev at all. It's kicking out loads of whiteish smoke even when it starts to idle.

My lame recording of the engine ticking over while it's lumpy
.

Any ideas? getting pretty desperate now.

Probably talking to myself here but I thought I'd post the solution to my fault.

Turned out to be the solenoid having an intermittent issue on the ERG, thankfully member here MVC in Sale sorted it for me.
