I have had my 147 a few months now and I'm loving it loads.

I have a few issues I would be most grateful for some help with from you experts out there!

1. Despite my best efforts why won't my radio come on when I start up. It's on when I switch off. It is the original standard fit model although when I first viewed the car an after market model was fitted but the garage had the original and re-fitted it prior to me collecting the car. It works fine but as I say doesn't come on at start up.

2. I have a creaking sound coming from both front and rear when going over speed bumps at low speed. Obviously suspension related but is there any thing I can do without spending wheel barrow loads of cash!?

3. Flashing odometer - this has happened twice since I've had the car - is it anything to worry about?

I'm going to have to get the waterpump and cambelt done - Is there anything else I should get done at the same time? Can anyone give me an idea of the likely cost? Is it a DIY job for a mechanically/technically minded bod?

Any help with the above would be gratefully appreciated

On 1) Alfa switch the two power lines in the ISO plug from the standard settings - permanent and switched lives - if an after market HU had been fitted they may have switched these to make this work and now it has been switch back to an Alfa unit they may need switching back. Have a look in the "ICE and Blue&ME" forum for more details.

On 3) I read on the forum a while back that if you start a 147 before all the startup checks are completed it can cause this to occur - have a search in this forum

Budget for about £350 to £400 at a specialist I'd say…

2/. I've read here some people have got very temporary relief with some spray on grease, but pretty deffo you'll need upper wishbones on the front. Creak at the back I dunno. You usually get a rattle from the back from radius arms. See this Alfa 147 front upper wishbone replacement guide.

Water pump/cam belt: consider replacing the auxiliary belt and idler (mine left me stranded about 6,000 miles after doing the pump/belt).
