I own a 2002 147 2.TS Lusso with factory fitted Connect Nav+. I would really like to bring it up to date with a double-din radio/sat nav unit that can play .MP3s and is easy to update the map data. It is also really important that the steering wheel controls (CANbus I believe) work properly.

I have noticed that the only aftermarket unit designed for the 147/GT lists suitability from 2005 on. I can't find out why it isn't listed for my 2002 car.

I have also noticed that the double-din adapter facias are only listed from 2005 on.

Have any alfaowners successfully replaced the early connect nav+? If so did you manage to get the steering wheel controls to work?

I would really appreciate your help.

Disregard any mention of dates, they are rubbish, all models (facelift and non-facelift) are equal re dashboard etc.
You can install any 2-din headunit you want. 2 din facias are available from most car hifi shops.
Steering controls are not CAN, but simple analogue voltage outputs. You will need an adapter though, most stereo supliers provide them for their HUs....
Do a search on this forum, there are tons of subjects on this. It's all fairly straightforward. Have a look here f.i.
