Can anyone help me with a problem
the clutch on my 04 147 jtd 8v has failed after 45000 miles which seems a little premature.
i bought the car 6 months and 9000 miles ago from a car supermarket who have said it is wear and tear so take no responsability but i think that the car was sold to me with insufucent wear left in the clutch.
Has anyone else had simular problems and did you get it resolved?
Did you take the argument to the manufacturer or to the dealer?
Any help would be apreciated as I am currently looking at a £1000+ bill!
This is my first alfa and i love it! bought the car to cheer my self up at turning 30 but at the moment its giving me a right hump!

£1000 for a clutch? Where the heck are you getting that quote from?!?

Normal wear and tear - you had it for a good 6 months, it happens, and nowt to do with the dealer in my opinion.

This quote was for a clutch and duel mass fly wheel with a nationwide clutch specialist, I thought that it was taking the p**s too, i had to get the car towed by the AA and went with their recommended repairer as the place I bought from is 40 miles away.
If anyone can recommend an enthusiastic alfa specialist near sheffield I would like to get to know one!

A clutch shouldn't have actually worn out in 45,000mls without having had an APALLING driver. If it's failed due to a manufacturing fault that's another matter, but you will have littel chance of comeback now.
If the former is the case, get another one that's been driven by someone who cares.

Autodelta offers lightened flywheel + sports clutch for TS engines for below 500GBP. I am not sure if there is a JTD version.

Alfa clutch kit for JTD should be about 400 EUR for parts + work (4-5 hours). Your 1000GBP quote includes maybe a nice vacation for your alfa dealer, but for a cluth it is way too much.
