Just paid £340 for, cambelt kit, variator, waterpump, bottle of engine flush and labour costs. Is that a good price to pay?

That's not a bad price TBH, a variator alone is close to 100 quid, then the timing kit and waterpump with a flush and new coolant.
What engine was it? 2L or less, if it's 2L you'll want to be sure the balancer belt and tensioners have been changed.

Its a 1.6, just nxt is oil change at weekend and to sort suspension knocking on drivers side and it will have had, mot, service, cambelt all done in past two months

It's fair price, could have been a little cheaper, but not much then.
