Hi all,

Got the 147 Collezione Limited Edition 1.9JTD - looking to do an oil change, however reading a lot of conflicting info when I've done a search on the forum.

Some people say get 5w-40, some say 10w-40.

Just to make sure - what is the best engine oil type I need? Car is a 08 plate on 54k miles.

+1 :thumbs: Change it regularly, every 4-5k, and your turbo will thank you too.

Manual for 156 states either oil is fine. I use 10w40.

Probably depends on the year of the manual, but both 147 & 156 manuals I've just checked have just 5W40

If the OP opened the manual and looked, I'm sure his would say 5W40 too.

My manual gives the choice next to a temperature scale with a fading arrow. 10w40 is recommended for temperatures down to approximately -5 degrees C.
Anyway just remember not to mix grades when topping up.

Mixing grades or type of any easily available modern oil isn't a problem.

Really! Definitely been advised to the contrary elsewhere.
Never thought about it too much i suppose it doesn't make any sense that it would be harmful.
