My 146 has been running perfectly for the last 6 months, apart from....
When I crank it to start. It only seems to fire when I "give up" and turn the key back to have another go. Depending on weather conditions I may also have to blip the throttle as I turn the key back to get it to catch.
I am pretty good at this nowadays and can usually get it first time but I wonder if its anything obvious?
I know my plugs are kind of elderly but it runs great when started. Has the feel of some traditional ***** type electrical shenanigans

Any advice greatly appreciated!

When you say you can get it to "catch", do you mean the starter motor doesn't always engage or that the car just turns over without firing up?

Making the assumption that it is actually turning over, the most common causes of poor starting are corroded/oxidised contacts in the BBOB (the fuses / relays around the battery) and/or a faulty crank sensor.
