I'm Thinking of a few track days / hill climbs this year in my 145 cloverleaf. Have been thinking about what gear ratios to use for improved perfomance.

Carfolio states that my final drive is 3.56 and 5th is 0.85. This for the 1996 145 2.0 ts QV.

I noticed that if i fit a 1994 155 2.0 ts gear box ( I'm told it will fit) that will give me final drive of 3.35 and 5th gear of 0.95.

Am i right in thinking this will give faster acceleration without the top end speed loss?

Carfolio gives the same top speed for both cars.

Does anyone have the actual ratios for 1,2,3,4 gears in both boxes to compare. If not where can i find out?

thats a longer final drive than the older but a shorter 5th, that would achieve nothing in terms of acceleration in 1st -4th, if anything it would be slower.

if im right, i may be wrong though, and have it the wrong way around

What are they measuring to get these figures? If its diameter of the gears it would make the 155 final drive smaller so make all gears shorter thus better acceleration. Then having a larger diameter 5th to compensate for loss of top speed.?

As far as i am aware, all TS gearbox's are the same in the sense of, all 1.8TS boxes have the same ratios as any other 1.8 box etc.

The 2.0TS QV box has a slightly shorter 1st gear and a slightly shorter 5th gear than the 1.8TS box.
