Hi,

I have a 2005 Alfa 156 1.9 JTD M-JET 16V and I have a problem with the air conditioning compressor making a loud ticking noise. Rather than replace the expensive compressor, I was hoping to run a shorter auxiliary belt and leave the air conditioning compressor out of the belt loop. I would also need to leave out the pulley between the crankshaft pulley and the air conditioning compressor.

Does anyone know the length of auxiliary belt that i would need to use to make this work?

Try running a piece of string on the run belt will take then measure it. Once you know that and how many ribs on belt you can get the correct size as the part numbers relate to size. For example the one I just ordered for my bmw is 6dpk1698. 6 ribs 1698mm long

I've got an 8v jtd that will be off to scrap at some point soon. Aircon was one of the few working things on it, compressor was fine when it last ran.
