Hi,
I've been 159 shopping, and have found that most of the 1.9s for sale in Ireland are the 8v 120 BHP version.

I'm aware that the general consensus is that the 1.8l petrol isn't up to moving the 159 around, so how does this diesel cope? Anyone know how it compares consumption-wise to the 150 16 valver?

The 8V engine will be fine in the 159 what moves the sheer weight of the 159 mostly is NM Torque and the 8v still has plenty, 280NM to be exact, now to put that into perspective the 2.2JTS which i have im very happy with, its not fast but its not sluggish, its just nice and it has only 230NM.

With regards to fuel economy, it might be a little bit worse because it has to work slightly harder to move the weight of the car, but i dont think it will be any major difference, anywho id opt for the Jtdm 10 times over the 1.8mpi yaaaawwwn

Or you could always pop over to the UK, like I did, and bring back a 16v jtdm. Much better specced cars over there.
