I just got myself a GT.

Love the car, but it has a somewhat boomy and "farty" exhaust note, fairly loud. The dealer I bought it from said they repaired a crack in it and it should be fine. So went back to them with the lambda (sorted), the mechanic told me they checked the exhaust for more leaks and found nothing.
When I told him i have had a 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 Twinsparks in the past, he admitted he found the exhaust strange but he thinks its the standard note.

Anyway I am just wondering is the standard exhaust louder on the 1.8 TS in the GT louder than the 145QV exhaust for instance? Going to go back to them, but maybe I'm way off here? Having a look at the exhaust it appears to be standard, but i dont get how they could miss a leak in it if they checked it previously.

You maybe better getting a exhaust center to look at it which im sure they would do for free as some garages only find what they want to find if its going to cost money. as far as the Gt sound its much the same as other models .

good luck

Thanks for that. Ya it actually sounds like it's from the centre section. They were quick with the lambda, so i started to think I was paranoid. Will have to give them a push.

Lambda with the right kit can be done in ten minutes though. If the bugger comes out.

If its a bit boomy then the silencers probably aren't doing their job. Or maybe the insides have fallen apart. Is the exhaust quite old?
Normal silencers / steel are pretty cheap to replace anyway.

Leaks you normally get a farty kinda sound rather than bass.
