Dear Friends, just ordered my giulietta yesterday! Although I am well aware that one doesn't buy an Alfa to save on fuel :tut:, I am still curious about the consumption levels of the MA 170 in the city. I know that the official figure is around the 36mpg, however I am pretty rue that in practice the real figure is well below that  (as with every other car I owned) :(

Thanks for your help!

Seems to be a fair bit of difference here. I have the 170ma and dont seem to go below 36 average. Stick it in D alot. Try to cruise at low rpm but frequently floor it to accelerate.

On a very careful drive on the motorway I averaged 50mpg!

Others round here have reported much lower figures tho

Mines awful!!!!

1700 miles, and very really get about 28MPG for the tank.

Also, seems to have a dead band before 2500 rpm, but dont know if this is cause the turbo hasnt cut itn.

Nearly had an accident the other day on a roundabout cause I pulled out and it just didnt pick up!!!

That doesnt sound right at all. I'd get it in to your dealer to check it out.
Maybe see if you can go out in a demonstrator to see if it is the same now you have gotten used to yours.

I got 7.2L/Km on a 125Kms trip a few minutes ago. Average speed was 112Km/H (Cruise control was on at 120)... Overall, on 8500Kms+ with average speed of 42Km/h I get 10.2L/Km.

I was expecting both numbers to be lower, but still I prefer enjoyment over economy:D

Hehe, the 50mpg was an experimental drive from Bristol to Liverpool and back at a very steady pace of just over 60. Slow acelleration from stand still. Not normal driving. I was on company time and very early for a meeting. Needless to say I haven't been anywhere near 50mpg since! 44mpg is easy to achieve. My average over 8500 miles is 38.

I used V Power to start with but after much debate on here which lead me to believe the benefits were marginal at best I just thought "forget it". Only thing it was good for was getting my V Power Club card. I always fill with Shell Fuelsave now. and get 38 from mixed driving or 44 on a gentle motorway run 65-70 using cruise control.
