Guys,

Been out of the Alfa fold for a little too long for my liking.

There's a 1997 GTV 2.0i TS around my way for sale that I'm quite interested in.

It's in decent enough nick with a few stone chips, dings etc, (Not mint by any means but not a bag of dross by any means either)

It has 136,000 miles on the clock which is quite high but it does have pretty much FSH, all mostly done by Alfa.

I've asked him about cambelt changes in the history and am waiting for that before I go any further, but all being well I can swing by at the weekend and buy it outright, :D

Here is the full advert for it:

1997 P in Blue Metallic (Atoll Blue)

10.5 months MOT (to 22nd April 2009)
4 months tax (to 30th September 2008)
Recent service (21st April) - filters, oil change, etc.
Almost full service history, which is almost fully Alfa dealer/specialist.

Past 6 months: new pads and discs allround, new radiator, new exhaust, new battery, new alternator and re-gassed A/C.
A new clutch was fitted just over 12 months ago.
Good condition throughout.

I am the fourth owner and purchased the car 3 years ago from my sister-in-law in 2005 (when it had approx. 75,000 miles on the clock). She had owned it since October 2001 (when it had covered approx. 36,000 miles).I have used it to commute from Bristol to Gloucester, so it has spent most of its time gently cruising at motorway speed.

Spec: Metallic blue, Lusso pack, black leather seats with Alfa Romeo logo, A/C, PAS, electric windows, remote locking, ABS, alarm & immobiliser, driver and passenger airbags, tilt steering wheel, space saver spare tyre, 4 x keys (inc. brown reprogramming key, 2 x locking remotes.

I have upgraded the wheels to standard Alfa Romeo GTV Phase 2 16" alloys and front grill, which, in my opinion, make the car look infinitely better. Further minor additions include a momo gearstick and smoked side repeaters.

Exterior: There are minor stone chips to the bonnet, and a few small parking indents/scuffs. Front wheels have very minor curbing (worst wheel shown in photos). Three of the tyres will need changing within a few thousand miles. The photos show the above in greater detail, and I can email further photos, should you require, prior to a viewing.

The car has been a pleasure to own and has served me well, and I will miss its looks, its beautiful growling engine, and its deft sportscar handling. Sadly practicality dictates I now need a larger hatchback.

I continue to use it as my daily commute, so I can offer the opportunity to view the car in either Bristol or Gloucester.

Uh oh! Bad result regarding the belt front. It was last changed 2 years ago at 100,000 and it now has 136,000 on the clock, so it is due now.

Decisions, decisions...

Well its about £350-£400 for the belts and variator so, knock him down accordingly.
I would do the belts and variator myself and save £200, as I have a mate who lends me the camlocks.

I quite like it, plus it's only a grand, so even if I hang on to it for 6 months (Until December) and then only get £750 for it I've only lost £250 which aint all that bad.

Gimme a second and I'll post some pics...

Looks great for a grand mate, as said, factor in the belt change but with some basic tidying, you could even make on the deal!
