I thought I was being clever by refurbishing the GTV wishbones so I could fit them to the Spider and save time but 2 of the GTV ones have a notch out of the knuckle end presumably for clearance. The problem is that the Spider ones don’t so I’m worried about when I come to fit the notchless...
SOLD : Pair of TRW Lower Wishbones for 156/147
Now that sadly my 156 V6 has gone to it's new owner I'm having a bit of a garage clearout.
This is a pair of TRW lower wishbones. They are brand new and have never been fitted. (Note, I have taken one of them out of the bag as I needed the bag...
I am not impressed :( I fitted brand new OEM lower arms 3 years ago and the drivers side balljoint has already failed at only 20'000 miles despite not hitting any potholes ever on that corner.
I have read some conflicting advise on which arms to fit. Many seem to think TRW (I am happy...
Hello guys. Im just doing a little research - how long do your 159's wishbones last? Also what type of engine, wheel and tire sizes, year of manufacture, poor or good roads, spirited or calm driving? Overall are you satisfied with owning a 159? Thanks in advance
12 months ago my 156 1.9 JTD failed it’s MOT due to Excessive play in the pin/bush in both of the front upper wishbones. This year whilst it did not fail there is an advisory the Suspension arm pin or bush is worn but not resulting in excessive movement again on both of the front upper...
I'm told the ball joints are gone on both sides front in my 2007 159. Mechanic is under the impression I will need to replace both upper and lower wishbones as the ball joints possibly can't be got on their own. Anyone know if this is true?

I'm sure I read somewhere that 156 cars are fitted with aluminium lower wishbones, whereas 147s are steel. Can anyone verify this please? I want to reduce un-sprung weight as much as is sensible, and this would be a cheap way of helping achieve that.
I poked my head inside the drivers wheels arch this afternoon, popped the wishbone off at the kingpin, it's creaking and clunking while turning the wheel, and the balljoint on it is on the way out aswell.
So might aswell replace both sides, and i'm not keen on ordering them from a dealership...
I'm changing car & I have a few leftover parts for my 2.0 GTV that I was too busy/lazy to fit - maybe they're of use to someone, offering here before they go on eBay..

Various people are flogging pairs of wishbones on eBay at good prices but beware!
Some claim to be for a GTV but aren't. They are about an inch too short. Not sure which Fiat/Alfa they are from.
Otherwise they are identical so you only realize when you lay them next to a correct one.
My 147 failed its mot on one of the front lower wishbones so just going to get apart of new ones. TRW and bolk are much the same price (£65 each) I'm leaning towards TRW? Is there anywhere cheaper than mr auto before I buy them?
We all know they are prone to wear and quality items are essential. The life span varies enormously.
In my experience, TRW can last 50k or up to 7 years (whichever is first). Bad ones can be shot within a year or 10k.
Can anyone beat these figures?
Guys, just after a bit of advice as I'm new to the Alfa scene...
I'm currently replacing the ARB bushings on my '04 GT JTD that I've recently purchased. The suspension was knocking and had the ARB as an advisory on the MOT for quite a few years. The NSF lower wishbone has slight play in it and...
Please bear with me, i know the subject of squeaky wishbones has been discussed and its what led me to the area to check.
i have and intermittent creak from what sounds like the front drivers side.
Having had the car on stands a few times i cant replicate the noise, ive even jacked under...
I have installed the powerflex bushes on my 159 so I would have a proper wheel alignment/camber but I can find no one that can adjust them.
Is there anyone that has a picture of them with proper alignment or that knows what position I need to put them for the least camber?
