  1. Wider tyres on existing rims?

    Alfa Giulietta
Hi, Does anyone know whether it would be possible to fit wider tyres to my existing 18" wheels? The tyres are currently 225/40/18. It looks as if the arches could accommodate slightly wider tyres and I'd thought about moving up to 235s? Thanks
  2. Wider 6th gear

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I was wondering, what if someone somewhere came up with custom ratios for our F40 2.4 JTDms. I can’t help but drool over the idea here’s the advantages I see: 1- the 2.4 is a great torque producing machine when reprogrammed can get up to 260 HP which is superb! 2- in stock form 3800 RPMs...

  6. Wider, lower tyres for Ti

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Can anyone share their experience selecting wider, lower tyres for the Ti rims? I am thinking about replacing the factory 235/40/R19s with 255/35/R19s. Im looking for a lower profile tyre that is more 'squared' on the Ti rims. Diameter change is less than 1% so well within spec. I know they...
  7. wider than a (country) mile

    General Alfa Discussion
There I was, sitting quietly in a country pub waiting for my dinner, miles from anywhere, discussing our visit to the Haynes Motor Museum with my psrtner trying not to dribble whilst talking about which car to have...the Pontiac Prowler, Jensen CV8, one of the Yank muscle cars Etc. when...
  8. They could do with being wider!

    Alfa GTA
Was looking at mine and a few mates cars at the weekend, 2 cayman s's and a e92 m3. The gta although looking nice and low is crying out for wider tyres. What could I get away with putting on the 18'' wheels? Currently 225.40.18. Possibly may introduce a touch of understeer but I could always...
  9. Wider tires on GTV

    Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
I thought I'd just share this with you guys. I've got 16" wheels on my V6 and it was fitted with 205/55/15 even though the correct profile was supposed to be 50% not 55%. The diameter of the wheel was therefore 632mm and not 611mm as supposed to be. This did not seem to affect performance...
  10. Can I have wider tyres on my 156?

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi all, I'll be getting some new tyres soon and the tyres I currently have are 215/45/17. I have had a tyre recommended to me by a couple of people who reckon they perform and wear well and are also very reasonably priced. I would like to go with these tyres if possible. However...they are...
  11. Wider tyre pressure

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
I have 215/45/17 currently on my 156 2.5. IIRC alfa says 32psi f/r but that is for standard tyres. Any recommendations ? cheers.

  13. Has the facelift 147 got wider rear arches than the non f/l ??

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi, Ive seen a few facelifted 147's on me travels recently and thought they looked quite 'meaty' from behind. I know the rear lights are different but never thought that they changed owt else. I swear the rear arches looked more extended though, I even thought not far off the GTA's stretch ...
  14. Creating a Wider Stance/Track - 156.

    Tuning & Upgrades
how would someone go about making their 156's wheels sit that ittle bit further out, to fill the arches? annoyingly enough, im thinking of going for 18" wheels as the 17" look tiny compared to some i have seen on here that fill the arches properly, only trouble is going to 40 profile tyres...

  16. Using Wider tyres

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
my stock 147 1.6 uses 195/60 tyres on 6.5J x 15 rims? is it possible to use 205/60 on 15 rims? i find the 16 selespeed wheels rather heavy which is on 205/55 tyres. however, there's more grip. so it appears logical the 205/60 on 15s would be a better compromise. anyone here ever tried this tyre...
