OK....so with some research, and help from you good folk, I've got my new laptop bought.......but what about anti virus software? A friend recommends something called 'Antivir' which is free?? What would you advise?

Could this "rare and complex virus" be the source of all my/our problems? It doesn't appear to be contagious though, as my other half is still less than complimentary about my pride and joy. Apparently the symptoms are eased by owning one...... :cheese:
