I've just repaired some leaking aluminium air conditioner pipes in Son of Ken's Alfa 147 and saved a big pile of money (about £180) in the process :). I used a propane blowlamp and some Durafix EasyWeld rods from here - - Durafix England

Hi Guys I cleaned my throttle body and fixed some air leaks etc on my yr2000 2.0 TS. After that the idle was too high at about 1200 rpm. I had just used Alfadiag to reset my Airbag light (hurrah) and so tried the reset for the idle actuator and adaptive parameters. The car then idled at 2000...

Hi, I have been reading a lot of information from this forum and have been able to find the annoying squeaking noise from my Alfa Romeo 156. Most of people seem to have experienced with upper wishbone squeaking noises. But my case was anti-roll-bar link rod! How did I check it? I simply...

Have your inlet pipes gone a bit rusty or tarnished? Mine have, so I called Alfa Romeo to get a quote for 6 new ones - £27.14 each + the Vat! So I looked into getting them re-plated, until I came across what I thought was a load of nonsense... Forget the Autosol and Autoglym metal polishes to...

I noticed the other day that I had a dash bulb out on the bottom left of my rev counter.... Assuming that it was the same as other makes I bought a complete dash bulb unit (the type with the socket included with two meteal lugs that tighten to make the contact as you twist)...WRONG! Needless to...

Dont know if its mentioned in the Qsystem hand book but here is a useful tip for Qsystem owners. The gear lever can only be shifted from park when the key is turned in the ignition and your foot is on the brake. My Qsystem had an intermittent problem where it wouldnt come out of park, after a...

If anyone needs to clean out the coolant reservoir (did mine as all oily from head gasket falure) - remove from car and block up pipe holes - then insert a dishwasher tablet - fill with boiling water, re-attach cap and leave over night. Rinse and bingo good as new.

In repairing and re-installing the wiper footswitch, I decided also to replace the petrified washer fluid tubing in this system. I stumbled upon a trick to simplify replacing this tubing that I thought I'd share. Feeding new tubing through the firewall and into car interior can be a real pain...

Don't park on any sort of slope! Pulled into a park the other night and it wasn't even much of an angle, but apparently enough to make sure petrol couldn't get through to the engine. Car stalled and wouldn't start again. Let's just say it took a while and a breakdown service truck to sort...

Hi I ordered a set of the original Alfa aluminium foot pedals from my local franchise, courtesey of Jason, they cost me £59.68 inclusive of my 10% AO Forum discount. When I got them home and inspected them, I found that they are identical, and I mean exactly the same, the whole shabang...

  16. Alfa 164 & 166
I've been told that the 166 could benefit from tightening every few months depending on driving and road conditions. As a matter of fact, what I thought was damaged parts was cured by retightening lower wishbones, upper, drop links and general front tightening....Not so much the back.... They do...

Anyone heard of pouring vinegar around a stuck plug?? :wow: Leave overnight and it kindly eats the corrosion and allows removal - marvellous. Will try tonight - let you know how I get on :p

Well don't dispair, this simple 10 minute modification to your cable will save you £30 for the adaptor or the grief of going to the dealer/indy. Using a flattened 3/4" long nail, length of wire and a bit of solder, you simply create a pin for slot 3 of the plug and connect it to pin 7 of the...

Hi guys, just to let you know that the front fog lights (Siem made units) on the Series 3 Sprint Cloverleaf (I guessing there the same as the Veloce and Series 2 Sprints) are the same as the the Peugeot 205 GTI fog lights. The part number for these units are: 620475, which are the clear glass...
