Would someone let me know what the correct procedure is? So far I have got the old belt off by just pulling down on the sprung tensioner, without touching the second, eccentrically adjusted tensioner. I don't see alignment marks on the sprung tensioner and it does not have the alignment holes...

Before I start the Cambelt on a 2.0TS CF2, im reading the Alfa workshop manual for the 2.0L, this snapshot of the tensioning procedure is confusing me. If i have read it correctly it is stating that you tension the belt to the max and then tighten everything up, turn the engine over twice and...

I did the cam belt and tensioner a few months ago but was never happy with a kind of whining noise coming from the belts area. Some people told me these engines had a tendency to whine after a new belt so I left it for a while to see if it died down. But it didn't. At first I thought it...

Hello all, I posted this in the GTV forum but no luck so far. I seem to have bought the most complicated tensioning tool out there. A pair of stilsons would have done the trick (& far cheaper) but I'm scratching my head how this actually works. Anyone used one? (It's a Laser 3791 tool)

Hi All I've been following the famous variator/cambelt guide and have reached te point of refitting the cambelt. Well it's on and so is the new tensioner, with the pointy thing showing at 5 o'clock. I also have the 8mm rod that Jaap suggests in what I assume is the appropriate hole (approx 2...

Afternoon People I've got a slack belt :( I'm trying to work out where to tension it from and from what I've read it seems this is done via the tensioner pulley which is mounted between the Alternator and the main drive pulley, Ive undone the centre bolt which is a reversed thread but could see...

I need to replace the air con/alternator belt and the power steering/water pump belt on my 155 2.0 8 valve twin spark. The manual talks about factory tools to set the belt tension. Can anyone give me any guidance on getting the correct tension without the factory tool. Thanks. Tony

Just bought a second hand '99 156 2.0. Fantastic car, I am in love! But... I keep reading about timing belt, tensioning belt and or CAM belt failure issues. My car has done 45k, should I be worried? Is there a real issue? Any ideas how much it will cost to replace the CAM and tensioners etc...
