  1. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
I just had the timing belt changed, and the piece they gave us back that supposedly was originally in my car has a stamp that reads "Made in Canada". Is that possible?? If not, the shop will hear from us, a lot. BTW, the code for the part is: F55191536 Thanks!
  2. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
Hi, I have a 3.0 Auto and both my bottom Cam Belt tensioners have gone and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I have been advised that it is likley that the belt would have become loose and slipped a couple of teeth. I must admit that it didn't sound to good when i was nursing...
  3. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
2nd thread of a possible many! Q4 cam belt needs the tensioner putting on but the wonderful workshop manual says I need tools 1.824.016.00 and 1.824.017.000 to tension the belt properly, do not know what these are and the illustration itnt too good either. See the attachment, may make more...
  4. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
Roughly £350-500 at an independant, depending on where you go. If yours is a 2.0 16v you'll need to get the balancer shaft belt done too. If you go to any old garage, make sure they have a set of camlocks for the engine. wrinx
  5. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
i really cannot seem to work out how this works, I cam tension the belt by sliding the whole unit and then bolting it in place but what is the significance of the spring and pointer, how do you get these to line up. The pointer moves ok on the spring when I push it with my fingers but should it...
  6. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
Hi Guys, at last i got around to changing all my belts just before going on holiday with the beast and my 155 but when i did it i noticed that there wasn't much tension on the tensioner wheel. You have your wheel and to the right you have a needle with a dot in the back plate. The needle is...
  7. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
my ordered 147 has the comfort pack, what the heck is a pre tensioner seatbelt, and how does it differ to normal seatbelts?
  8. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
Well 10a is in a coma at the moment. Not sure when it will wake up :( The bolt that holds on the auxillary drive belt tensioner has snapped. I see why 155's have an undertray under the engine.... to catch the bits which fall off!! This is where I found the tensioner. The bolt has sheered...
  9. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
Hi all! My engine suddenly got rattly one night, and I mean REALLY rattly, and upon inspection, found that one of my belt tensioner wheels ( the belt furthest from the engine?)had lost it`s bearings and the outer race was just loose in the position being held purely by the belt and the fact that...
  10. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
Hi guys, My 2.0 16v Twin Spark with rattling noise from the engine has just been looked at by a Subaru and Saab specialist (because they are right next to my house). Unfortunately they can't do any more than look because during diagnosis they found they don't have all the right tools for the...
  11. Alfa 145 & 146
The seatbelt tensioner or whatever it's called on my 146 has been locking up intermittently and seems on its way out. Has anybody got a decent supplier where I could pick one up, assuming it doesn't require any special tools to fit it.. Derek
