Today was snowing like crazy in Riga, so I took my GT for a spin, literally as well ;) Got some sweet photos too!

Not having owned a RWD car before, I’ve been doing a bit of reading. Am I likely to have to leave my Veloce at home when it snows? I’m in the UK, by the way.
  3. Alfa Giulia
Afternoon all - I've been on the verge of buying a Giulia Veloce now for months, keep putting it off due to nagging thoughts about how the rwd will perform in wet, snow, ice conditions. Now I know we only get about two days of snow a year blah blah blah but I do a lot of transpennine driving and...

Hello, I did a short test of Giulia on snow. I think it is a bit heavy and I was not able to turn traction control OFF. But I had fun ;)

As this particular brand of inclement weather does not frequent us too often, an opportunistic passer-by of dubious but hilarious morals has proceeded to festoon my GTA with imagery of a decidedly phallic nature. My amateur detective skills have come with a possible profile for the suspect...

As per title, after yesterday’s snowstorm I had to get up a hill to get back home. Approaching uphill the car seemed to be doing ok until I started losing grip. The engine seemed to keep “blipping” while losing power and there was a “click click” sound coming from under the steering wheel rack...

Hi all MOT this afternoon, fingers crossed all ok and i do feel confident of a pass...famous last words, ha ha. I live in Portsmouth and have just a 7.5mile commute into Fareham which i did this morning after de-icing my GTV. Tricky side roads but motorway and main roads fine. Get to work to...
  9. Alfa 159, Brera & Spider
Well even in Carlisle we have snow! First time I've ever driven a 159 in snow. The car coped admirably even cruising up the hill to get out of work easily, unlike the bosses BMW! If you want cheap winter tyres try Virager remoulds. Unbelievably they're great in the snow!
  10. Alfa Giulietta
Bought a Giulietta JTDM Veloce last summer and was a bit apprehensive after reading reviews of it being bad in the snow. The centre of Kent has been hit hard and I can safely say it was great on deep snow, ice or slush. The "All weather" setting got me up hills that others couldn't. The...
  11. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
My leggy Alfa GT has been one of the more pleasant surprises in my chequered car ownership history. Its a 2008 Blackline diesel - bought in May 2013 with 150,000 miles on it and a fairly scruffy respray. It was bought purely as a commuting hack to save putting the miles on my highly-modded Fiat...

Sound like some dodgy b rate film.... Anyways first time i had taken the 159 out in the snow on sunday (Had no choice) To be fair it was fine, spun once as i forgot to pull off in 2nd but yeh not problems with handleing etc
  13. Alfa Giulietta
not getting very far  anyone else been struggling with their tct in the snow?
  14. Alfa Stelvio
Any of you Stelvists been in the snow yet? How does it perform? What tyres? Ta. :D
  15. Alfa Giulia
Anyone braved the snow in their giulias yet, even in the wet in eco mode with little acceleration the back end twitches abit around corners when pulling off. I need to take the little one to football in an hour so should be fun!
  16. Alfa MiTo
Mightily impressed by how my little Mito handled a 5 hour blast through the snowy highlands. Heavy snow at one point and it never stopped feeling sure footed while I watched four other cars come a cropper and slide off. Once the weather calmed and road cleared it still managed to pose for...
  17. Alfa 164 & 166
We had nearly 24 hours of snow starting Monday night, about a foot of the stuff by the time it stopped. And today dawned sub-zero, so a mix of fresh/compacting snow and underlying ice. (Took me 10 minutes to scrape enough off to get mobile at 7.30 this morning.) To this point, my choice of an...

Now we are now into Autumn, just thought I'd mention I have a pair of 'Tex-Chain' Snow Sox available that will fit both 18 and 19" wheels if we have any snow later in the year! As I no longer have a 159 they are surplus to requirements. They've been used once for about 100 yards..TBH worth...

So, did my first ever snow foam wash today and realised a litre of diluted snow foam mix is waaaaaay too much for a giulietta size car! So, I've got about 60% of it left and being a tight wad I want to keep it for reuse. Presumably storing it in an air tight bottle will keep it good for a few weeks?
