147 - I had the top hats replaced, TBH it didn't make that much difference to the change, but then I am used to the "light switch" change in my old Golf, however 4th and 5th wouldn't engage until i realised i didn't need to push the lever all the way over to the right of the gate, they are fine...

Evening chaps just wandering if anyone else with a diesel tct has experienced any gear selection problems on cold mornings. My G wouldn’t start this morning at first then when it did was stuck in 2nd. I pulled over and turned the ignition off and then on again and everything was back to normal...

Not that long ago I replaced the gearbox oil in my 2.4 Brera to the 75W90 spec rather than the recommended 85. It did make a difference but again could just be down to the fact it was fresh oil? I’ve noticed when cold or when it’s been standing a day or so that 1st gear is a little stiff to...

I've been having this "Selespeed limp mode" issue (not engine limp mode) and after few cold nights without running I found out that the car now won't even start. When I press start START it wasn't even making any ticking noise at all. Was going to blame just 3 months old Varta F19 battery but...

Hi all, Just brought a GT Clover Q2 (gave my wife the Giilietta) Quick question is Reverse meant to be guarded untill the collar is lifted under the knob? At present you can just go straight over and down which makes finding 5th a lottery as going too far over it won't select... Guessing a cable...

Hi I'm laughing at myself already :jester:. We spend a lot of time talking about oil, choosing oil, checking the oil, but what if during that check we use a nasty linty, gritty, fraying, contaminated cloth, or just the wrong type? So what's your weapon of choice? Microfibre? Cotton? Dishcloth...

Alfa GT 1.9 JTD. Had difficulty tonight selecting 3rd gear, particularly when changing up. Had similar difficulty a few weeks ago but thought it had cleared up. Both times occurred after the car hadn't been used for a week or so. Synchromesh on the way out, Linkage wear or pending clutch problems?

Hello, my Alfa (159 2.4 sportwagon) is having problems selecting gears when the engine is running, if the engine is not running there is no problem what so ever. When trying to put the car in gear it is very hard and you can feel a jolting movement forward. It's only just started to happen no...

Can anyone tell me why the audio system doesn't always select the digital USB source in the glove box? There doesn't seem to be any logic to when it comes on. Also the USB source can be dropped (not paused), with no obvious way to re-select it through the menu. Can anyone shed any light on this...
  14. Alfa Giulietta
Hi, My Giulietta suddenly won't select any gears forward (reverse, 1, 3, and 5). The stick just won't go any further. Transmission appears to be moving for all other gears. is this a common problem? Cheers, Sam

Selespeed, strange gear selection when cold? Strange when the car is cold the gear indicator flashes, indicates the wrong gear i think, sometimes blank for a second. Sometimes it skips gears and goes up to the next one. *Once warm it works OK. Is this the transmission ECU on the way out? I...

Anyone got anything to help me to keep this excellent car from the scrapyard.it was working fine and then for no understandable reason just stopped selecting any gear. The pump is working and I'm told by MDZ ITALTEC is a relay issue. What I need is wiring diagram please. It can't be serious...

There's plenty on the forums about problems with the cable selector mechanism on pretty much all models, but I can't see any about my issue with rod based selection mechanism on a 145 1.6 TS. The issue is that the lever itself has about 15mm of vertical movement in it and selection of gears...

To make a long story short. This weekend when I was about to take the car out for a spin, a couldn’t get it in reverse and I...
