  1. Alfa 159, Brera & Spider
How reliable is the q4 system? Would you say bullet proof or often needs servicing or a complete headache? Can I find spare parts for it from audi if I need to? Also in Egypt we only have 92ron, 95 is 3 times the price and 98 Ron is so rare I won't call it available. So is it possible to use...
  2. Alfa 159, Brera & Spider
Always had german cars but these are extremely tempting. Currently, have a 200k miles A4 which hasn't put a foot wrong since the start of my ownership 2 years ago. However its so dull to look at..... I've up to £8k to spend and seen nice ones at that price range. But seen a £3k one- and can't...
  3. Alfa 159, Brera & Spider
I have my '09 159 2.0 JDTM Ti just under 4 years now. In that time I've done 56,000 miles so it now has 80,000 on the clock. I've serviced it, put new tyres, brake pads and wiper blades on it and thats it. I just put it through the NCT (Irish equivalent of the MOT) and it passed, not a bother...
  4. Alfa 159, Brera & Spider
Hi all, I'm thinking about buying a low mileage 2.4 Ti, 2010 my. Thanks to the useful stuff on this forum I've researched this and the 1.9 engine. My question is does the bigger engine share all the potential issues of its 4-cylinder brother? Does it have any woes of its own and, on the...
  5. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi, so I bought my first Alfa back in march. Its a 2001 156 1.8 veloce and has been impeccable up until June, where it had a crank sensor go. Replaced with a cheap after market part away I go. 3-4 weeks later whilst bleeding air out of system having replaced thermostat I notice the cambelt...
  6. Alfa 159, Brera & Spider
Sorry to start yet another remap thread, but I cant seem to find much about the reliability of the clutch and gearbox (635) after a remap on a 159 2.0 JTDM170. There are endless threads on remaps for the 1.9 and 2.4 but much less about the 170. I am certainly going to have the EGR turned off...

I just read this article and was amused at the presence of all the top German manufacturers; but not a mention of the "unreliable" Alfa's. The UK's most scarily unreliable car revealed
  9. Alfa Giulietta
Hi guys, seriously considering buying a 1.4 lusso guilietta after i had a test drive a few days ago. My only concern is about reliability, i accept every car has the potential to be very unreliable no matter how good the brand generally is but what about the guilietta? Ive spoken to a few...
  10. Alfa 159, Brera & Spider
I know this has been done in the past but thought I'd check for an up to date view on these engines as I'm considering a 159 1750 TI The first page I saw on here was about blown turbos, is this a common issue? Is it less prevalent on later manufacturing dates? If so, from when? Does this car...

Alfa tops of the list of the worst for electrical problems and is put to shame by the German and Japanese brands... isn't it? Not according to Warranty Direct.. Enjoy! Revealed: the cars that are most likely to suffer from electrical problems - UK's most and least reliable cars in terms of...
  12. Alfa Giulietta
Looking at trading in my '08 Spider 2.2 LE for a used 1.4TB MultiAir 170. There seems to be more than a few cases of these multiair units giving up the will to live after only a few years. Is the 1.4 TB 120bhp likely to be a better buy reliability wise? Anybody's thoughts or advice is appreciated.
  13. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi there, I am in the process of looking to buy a new car (well a few years old) and have seen a 1.6 147 collezione, which looks stunning. I am just a little wary of the reliability - I have googled and it seemsa mixed bag - some seem lucky some seem unlucky. Whats your thoughts? Its a 2009...

Fair play to them though, at least they've put their hands up to it and not just dismissed the problem as a 'characteristic', . Huge Car Recall Over Faulty Airbags - Yahoo! Finance UK
  16. Alfa 159, Brera & Spider
I'm really keen to buy a used Alfa 159 and the engine I was considering was a 1.9JTDM. But I've read that the engine can be very unreliable (e.g. the timing belt drives the waterpump and waterpump failure can fling it off in as little as 40k miles, wrecking the engine). I have 2 questions: 1...
  17. Alfa MiTo
Hi there,i was thinking of tuning my Mito (full exhaust , chip and inake kit) the main reason is for track days(drag days:-) ).Researching this topic i was curious about the downsides. Hi guys, I've got a 147 that i've spent a fortune on (new engine @ 170k km, clutch, control arms, etc etc) and i've decided to try and sell it finally even though it's an awesome car. Now i'm looking at cars with the idea that it should be more reliable and a little hesitant to get another...

Two bad Alfa events for me today. First, I found that my car has a serious-ish problem preventing it from working. Don't know what, it will need to be recovered to Autolusso to find out. Second, I have been saving a bottle of the special Alfa centenary wine that I was given by an Italian...
