I'm about to fit a new driveshaft. I'm going to change the gearbox oil at the same time. Pricing up mt90 it's going to cost me about £65 for just under three litres. Much more than gear oils available from my local motor factors. Is it worth paying that much. It'll only be in there for two...
  2. Alfa Giulietta
Hi, guys! Has anyone tried Redline 0w-30 or 5w-40 oil for Multiair 170? What can go wrong if I use it in my 2014 Giulietta? Didn't find any mentions using forum search.

I need to do some oil changes and will go for Redline 75/90 NS for the gearbox. For the differential there seems to be a choice between RED LINE Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90 GL5 and RED LINE Synthetic Manual Transmission 90 MT90 75W-90 GL4. Which should I opt for?

Went for this oil for my gearbox seeing as its the closest I can find to the original alfa spec 75w85 but also promises to be fantastic at changing my box from notchy and not liking high rev changes! Any thoughts as I see the fuchs 75w80 and mt90 (which I nearly got but was worried about it...
  5. Alfa MiTo
Hi Redline on the rev counter in my QV starts at 6500 rpm, but the car cuts out at around 6000. Is that normal ? I'm aware there is not much point in revving that high, but revs are building up fast in lower gears...

Hey all, For those interested this is my dad's one off that he built using an Alfa Alpine 2l turbo and a Alfetta GT gearbox rear mounted. This body is fibre glass but he is wanting to build more bodies on rolling chassis using hand rolled aluminium. It is a car I look forward to taking round a...

This stuff (gearbox oil) really works - changed mine today and now I don't have to skip 2nd when she's cold, not quite the proverbial knife through butter but much improved - for once it does what it says on the tin!

I have had my Mito (120) since January and loved every moment of it. My mate finally got me to let him have a go in it this week and he drove it completely differently to how I do. He kept the revs over 3k and went up towards the redline and really gave the car a blast with me in the passenger...

  10. Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
Just wondering what damage hitting the redline in first gear can cause to the car? Engine? Transmission? I know the fuel is cut but im sure that isnt damaging.
  11. Alfa 159, Brera & Spider
Does anyone know if there is a 'recommended' running in period for diesel engines, specifically the 2.4? I'm going to have my 159 for 3 years and I want to make sure the engine remains sweet. Hope it's not too long, I chose the car to drive it properly, not pootle around changing gear at...

My 2003 147 GTA will not rev to redline, the engine cutout comes in at 6800. IS this normal? The rev counter is accurate according to the speeds at rpm in 6th gear. Any ideas?

Hi there fellow Alfanauts - I've got another really basic question. I'm running a points distributor on my 1982 1.5 GC boxer engine because I don't have the electronic ignition module for this model year (all my ancilliaries come from my 1978 Ti parts bucket). Anyway, I am now extending my...
  14. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi, I own a 2003 156 JTS Selespeed and was wondering if I can get my software updated or changed for the Selespeed so that it doesn't change up to the next gear at redline. I believe this was done to the GT when it was released or so I read here
