Has anyone ever run their GTA with a lower load rated tyre? I know they're meant to wear a '91' rated tyre (615kg). Just wondering if I could get away with a '88' (560kg)?
My head says not to do it, load rating is there for a reason. On the other hand, I cant find this particular tyre in the...
I read on black circles that the new tyre rating system will "make choosing your new tyres simple".....does it hell!
I'm looking for tyres for my new 18" alloys and rather than just pick one based on budget/brand/hard or soft, I'm finding myself obsessing about fuel effiecncy, wet grip and...
Long story short but basically after a nightmare trip up to Scotland, the car felt a little skittish (159 2.4 Lusso by the way). To my own shame, I hadn't realised that I had carried my wife and baby up in the car with almost smooth rear tyres (Michelin Primacy HPs). So, after realising...
Having just bought two new front tyres for the twinny, and in light of the other tyre thread running I wondered what the consensus is on speed ratings?
Speed Ratings - Tyre Speeds Explained | Blackcircles.com
I have just plumped for W ratings as opposed to Y's which were on there previously -I...
Sorry for this post, I'm sure the answer is on the forum somewhere, but I find it difficult to search using my phone!
I am looking for the official Alfa spec for tyres for a 1997 Ph1 Spider 2.0TS on standard 16" wheels
For V6 spiders the Alfa spec is 205/ 50/ 16 89Y
I know it not...
Following on from my thread damage section I am now looking at changing both my front tyres.
I currently have conti sport 2's all round (235/45/18/98W)
Trouble is at £200+ each and probably needing a set a year that's going to be quite pricey over the life of the car.
Option 1 is to go for a...
I have a plan to stick a V6 in a tiny car and take it racing, however, i was wondering.
If i were to make it road legal, i.e notify the DVLA of engine change, how would that effect the vehicle tax band?
baring in mind the car is probably a 2003 onwards car, any ideas?
I have a spare tyre for my 156 but it is a HIGHER speed rating than the ones on the car which are V rated (standard spec).
Does anyone know if this would void my insurance if fitted? I know if the speed rating is too low it would but could they argue a differently rated tyre would behave...
I have no intention of adding to the Dodgy Garage thread anymore since it is now going round in circles so here's my idea - but lets keep replies (if any) objective please!
Someone mentioned eBay type feedback as a means of rating (good or bad) a supplier or service bought. Fine and perhaps a...
just a quickie? ive read somewhere that the BOSE amp is rated at 200 watts. anyone know how this is split between the co-axials and sub?? bose sub is knackered and wanna buy a replacement free-air sub if i can find any that physically fit, so would be nice to know the amp output.
Bit of a silly question really, I have just ordered some V rated tyres for my 2.5 156, and was wondering whether they are ok for the car.. They are rated to 149mph, and the cars top speed is quoted as 143mph, so the top speed is below the tyres rating.
However in the owners handbook the tyres...
I watched an old 5th Gear last week an saw VBH falling in love with a 156 GTA after giving it a thrashing 'round a test track.
I read What Car? this week and they only give it one star and call it dissapointing!
What's going on??
Personally, I love the car but wish it had...
Sorry, another question after a couple of days ago.
When my car was being taken in for the ABS/VDC failure to the checked, they reccomended me to buy some new tyres as they were 'getting there'. I'm thinking about replacing the 225/35/18s on my 147 with some 225/40/18s, but the weighting I...
Can some please give me advice on tyre ratings.
According to the tyre bible website, speed ratings are as follows...
W rated: 168 mph
Z rated: 150+ mph
V rated: 150 mph
Firstly, what does 150+ mean? and does it mean this is a higher rated tyre than a 'W'.
Secondly, can one fit 'V' rated...
Have noticed that WhatCar magazine have been down grading Alfa's over the last few months.
Here is what they say..
147.. Looks the business but in terms of quality and dynamics is off the pace. 3 out of 5.
156.. Full of Italian charm and reasonable value but short on space and driver appeal...
Found this site as I was trawling through the questbook. (We have 2 156's in the houshold as well as my ace 155.) It interesting enough, has a forum and wot not. Its worth remembering if you're thinking of changing to a 156.
I was looking at my profile before, at the bottom it says as a...
