I'm on my way to try alloy aftermarket crankshaft pulley. Already fitted one in my 2.0TS and it was quite impressive result. My question is can i remove only the pulley that runs aux-steering-generator belt, without messing timing belt sprocket wheel? From picture below i assume it's possible...

I put my 3 and a half year old 147 in for its first belt change on monday and while they were changing it they found a long crack in the crank pulley.:wow: They showed it to me and it was pretty shocking how bad it was, didn't look like it was going to fail at any second but it was only a...

Hello folks, Need some help with a cambelt change on my v6. Have just removed the 41mm nut, wasn't too much hassle. But the pulley itself is stuck fast. Banging away at it with mallet made no difference! So how do I get this off, is there a tool I can use to do this? Gav.

Hey, Been under the car today to fix a few things and had a good look around whilst there. I realised the upper and lower idler pulleys are plastic :-( Under closer i have discovered the lower one on mine has sideways play in it and has a groove worn into it all around. Is it time to change...
  5. The Classic Alfa Romeos
I've got three marks cut in the crank pulley of my 1969 1750 RHD UK from birth spider. Trouble is that none of the marks are stamped with their letter - and apparently the marks are not (necessarily) the same as those on the US cars. In th attached photo: a) = the "M" timing mark b) and c)...

Hi I have a 2004 156 2.0L JTS. A couple of days ago while driving through town I noticed a strong smell of burning plastic in the car. I pulled over to investigate and saw smoke coming from under the bonnet. On investigation the smoke was coming from the pulley of what I assume to be the air...

Does anyone know where I can get one of these asap? My local dealer asked for my chassis number (which was a problem considering the car was sitting on axel stands a few miles away ) and they still couldn't find the part number after I gave it to them, yes I will avoid them in future...

I think I've got a problem, I replaced the timing and the aux. belts on my 10v 2.4 jtd, and upon inspecting i noticed the crank pulley is vibrating slightly like it's slightly buckled! I must admit I didn't look for this before and it might have been doing this before, does anyone else have...

hey all, im doing a cam belt change on my 156, and ive removed the 41mm nut off the crank pulley, but its still stuck on pretty damn solid. whats the best way to withdraw it. i would have thought a hub puller risks breaking the seal between the pulley an wheel, and ive tried gentle pursuation...
  12. Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
Can anyone who has changed a timing belt on a V6 confirm that the crankshaft pulley bolt is LH thread please? I'm doing my cambelt at the mo and trying to get mine off is proving to be a nightmare. Am trying to release the crank nut clockwise as I think I read somewhere it is LH thread but it...

I have a squeaking noise coming from one of the pulleys that drive the PAS/AC/Alternator belt. It is coming from the pulley wheel that is bolted thought the cambelt cover....if that makes sense, it looks to have a 15mm hex head but try as we might it will not undo, when i spray white grease on...
  14. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
I,m told that the early twin spark (cira96) engines have wider crank pulleys and so wider belts than the newer engines, anyone know if this is true? If this the case, is it possible to used use the narrower belt with the wider pulleys.
  15. Alfa 164 & 166
Has anyone got a good deal on a tensioner pulley for a 164 3 litre 24v that they have bought recently. Clearly not a:( popular purchase as I look around!
  16. Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
Hi all, In the middle of changing the timing belt on my 99 GTV 3.0 but cant get the aux pulley wheel of the crankshaft. Been at it for 3 hours! got 3 leg hydraulic pullers on it and gave it a heat but it seems solid. Any help would be great Cheers, Greg

  18. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
Hi there. I'm mid way through timing belt change on my 156 v6. next job is to free the cam pulley from the cams to allow the new belt to be tensioned. I've got the bolts in the ends of the cams loose, but how do you get the pulley free from the cam? Is there a tool that can be bought/made for...

We have had a slight rattle from the engine for some time. It sounded like the aircon compressor and got worse when you turned the aircon on or turned the steering. Yesterday it got a lot worse. Took it into BLS and it turns out the crank pulley for the serpentine auxiliary belt has an internal...
