A mate of mine who's never owned an alfa loved the thought of buying one and especially the GTA. He loves the looks, the soul that alfa gave the interior making it a nice place to be and above all the sound of the Busso engine, but something held him back from buying one.
He text me this...

Looking to at some point trade my '07 Fiat Bravo 150 MJ Sport in - currently considering either a Brera, 159 TI or GT (all Diesels) - I change my mind depending on which has past me on the road last.
I'm desperately trying to like the Brera, as in the brochure its interior/exterior...
Just been looking at the licensed/SORN'd figures for Q1 2012 (this is for all GTV V6's):
Previous quarter was
i.e. a drop of seventeen cars
Not sure how accurate this is (check out: Combined stats (4 models) GTV V 6 - How Many Left?)
Got my GT back from the garage this evening following a clutch, slave and master cylinder replacement and was looking forward to taking it for a spin. Unfortunately once I got to some open road I found that it wouldn't rev past 4000rpm - almost is if the rev limiter had cut in. Same in every...
So have you owned a GTA before your current one? How many if so?
I had a 156 GTA for a brief time in 2008 and loved it. Got me hooked on the GTAs.
Then was lucky enough to have a 147 GTA at the beginning of the year and I'll have my 3rd very shortly.
The engine management light appeared on my 156 JTD Mjet last week and now it won't rev past 2500 in any gear :( This sounds expensive and obviously needs to visit the dealer but any ideas what might be the problem? Please don't say turbo trouble...
My Y Reg 156 1.8 twinny is really starting to **** me off. Its on 140k miles and the list of jobs is seemingly endless. Last month I spent £392 on a full service, front suspension jobs and a few other bits. Then this month I spent £260 on a bew steering rack, corroded brake pipe and a...
Here we go, thrusting past the big number.
As you can see in 'Sport 3'.
I think that 166 sportronics should always be in this mode unless:
1) You are limping to a petrol station
2) You are saving for your KeeWooHya econobox
3) You are already dead.
Whilst sorting out the crap cupboard in the utility room yesterday in an attempt to find something which wasn't there, I stumbled across a small photo album full of snaps of my mid 90s Capri 1.6 LS restoration project. I've scanned a few highlights below:
1. A wee bit of rust:
2. New front...

I recently replaced the CAT (the replacement that was fitted was alot narrower than the original.. could this have an effect.. it has...
Just reading Paul Horrell's column in the latest edition of Top Gear. He talks about Alfa's current design direction, especially as their centenary comes around...
"The company's glorious past is making many people at Alfa complacent rather than inspired."
Has me rather worried too – how about...

I won't hide the fact that my love of Alfa started in 1997 when I saw the Top Gear review of the 156. I was instantly in love with the design and the way Clarkson both loved and hated it, as with all alfas!
12 years on, Alfa has dumped the bionicle cowl speedos, the double creases on the side...
