Just spotted oil on one of my rear wheels - looks like the oil seal is fubar - is this much of a job to do? - I'm assuming this is the seal?, the bearings are good so anything else worth changing while its in bits?
The shed up the garden is out of Wi-Fi range. My plan is to use a power line adaptor from the DSL/Home hub and pop one in the socket in the shed. I then want the hub to broadcast the Wi-Fi signal, but I am worried that it won't be slaved correctly. What do I need to do?
I'm back on the case trying to solve my rear suspension knock. This has frustrated the hell out of me since I changed everything on the rear suspension earlier in the year. The car is on Bilstein B8s, Eibach -30mm lowering springs, Meyle HD drop links, Powerflex rear anti roll bar...
I'm going to replace one of the rear wheel hubs on my Alfa 164L
in a few days. According to my shop manual (CarDisc), the 7th
step is "Remove caulking and the hub securing nut" after the wheel
hub cap is removed and I also should caulk the hub securing nut
after I tighten it during...
I had to have the rear trailing arm, front left spring and some bushes replaced in the last weeks. The rear trailing arm had rusted through (thank god I wasn't driving when it BROKE IN HALF) and when they lifted it up and started looking around they had a field day. Broken spring, worn...
My wheel spacer kit has sat on the shelf for some considerable time because the supplied studs for the stud conversion do not have a "shoulder" and so my engineer won't fit them. Does anyone know a workshop that handles this modification? Most TS cup cars are running now with this conversion.
Hi, does anyone has experience replacing front wheel hubs? I think my car was previously owned by the Incredible Hulk as almost every bolt is over tightened. It's all new wheel nuts but not a bit of copper slip or grease and overtightened so a couple of threads are stripped, one completely.
So, I had a tyre shop put some winter tyres on a spare set of 16's for the Giulietta. Everything seemed to be fine, drove all the way across Europe and the alps to Rome for Christmas and back. Went to take the wheels off yesterday and we struggled, and noticed once one wheel was...
I changed my set of wheels for 16" steel rims with winter tyres but my wheel caps/hub cap don't go on my back wheels due to something sticking out from the center (see picture).
I don't have this problem on the front wheels. Is it normal to have this center chrome cap on the back but not on the...
On stripping rear suspension I have found the hub carrier bush on nearside is knackered. It’s the rear one where it joins trailing arm that has the adjustable cam bolt and washer.
Any recommendations for replacement bush, stick with standard or go with a powerflex option if one is available?
Hi guys anyone know how to remove these "quick release" ? toora alloys, I have been sweating at them for the last half hour and had to walk away ? They are meant to be quick
The instructions say remove cap... done! Remove safty nut..... done!
Remove alloy.....ehh can't do!?
Wondered if any suggestions regarding my last repair I've just finished, Due to a rear bearing whine from rear at 30mph onward ... unfortunately as the noise is till there after hub swap seems the bearing noise must be driver side..
problem is I used a hub from a 2001 916 and my car is 1999...
I am wondering where to get this size from. I measured them and it shows 48mm but all I can see on eBay and AliExpress are sizes from 50mm up. :headache:
Would be happy if you provide links :)
*Note: Picture of the wheel is my avatar*
I have two worn out front wheel bearings that I intend on replacing. Now know most will say "oh take it out and get a garage to swap the bearings for you"
But due to a number of reasons this is not practical. So I am thinking about attempting a similar process to change the bearings insitu as I...
Hi can anybody tell me where I can get the bush circled on the diagram . can't seem to find one.
Eper doesn't list any bushes just the fixing bolts or the complete hub. Anyone any clues???
£278 for a squeaky bush seems a bit excessive :headache:
I am needing to replace my rear trailing arm bushes and my rear hub bushes (Not the transverse arms). I am going for powerflex. The trailing arm bush looks simple enough but the hub bush seems to have a metal outer insert. Does this need to be pressed in with a hydraulic press?
Was wondering if anyone knows what size nut and thread type I need to buy for hub bush bolts? I've sourced the bolt but for some inexplicable reason it doesn't come with a nyloc nut!
I'm anticipating resorting to violence so should probably have a fresh nut to use!
Any help appreciated! Cheers
After needing a portable hydraulic press and 3500 psi I have eventually removed the rear suspension lower rear hub carrier bush. Problem now is getting new ones! Anybody know the alfa part No, or who/where to get them from without destroying the bank balance. Needless to say that this is really...
