  1. Hardwiring a car-cam

    General Motoring Discussion
I bought a cheap car cam from Amazon. It's really good. Powers up with the ciggy lighter, powers off 5 seconds after key off. I want to hard wire it so I don't have the cable dangling down to the ciggy lighter port. Is there a way of hardwiring a stabilised 5v USB miniB cable into the car...
  2. Hardwiring TomTom

    Alfa MiTo
I've had my Mito for 6 months now. It's a 2012 model but doesn't have the sat nav dock build into the dashboard. I hate wires that dangle from the windscreen all over the dashboard, and the Mito's cigarette lighter couldn't be in a more awkward place, so I'm looking to hardwire a TomTom into the...
  3. Hardwiring iPhone charger

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi all. Just got a new iPhone, so time to replace my old TomTom holder with something new. Brodit look to be the way forward (Brodit - Mounting platform specialist!) and they even supply a mount for the GT (652865 Brodit Proclip: ProClip Center mount for Alfa Romeo GT 04-11). Anyone know how...
  4. Hardwiring cigar lighter plug from brodit phone holder

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi all, Not long had my first Alfa, a 147 2L 2005 model and wanted to fit my phone holder in. Brodit make a proclip (ref:652865 RHD) which fits above the stereo but I didn't want the cigar lighter plug cable trailing down the dash to the socket. Has anyone fitted one of these and hard wired...
  5. Hardwiring a snooper in a GT

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi all, Has anyone had any experience hard wiring a snooper device into their car? I have a GT and want to hardwire the device to the ignition so it does not need to be plugged into the cig lighter as this isn't that practical!! I have the leads to do it I just don't know where I should wire...
  6. Hard-wiring a TomTom into a 156

    ICE & Blue&Me
I'm fed up of having my tomtom cable draped over my dash and would like to have the power supply permanently connected. Am I right in thinking you can just get a cigarette lighter socket and wire it into a constant 12v feed under the dash somewhere, so that you can leave the tomtom lead...
  7. Part Dashboard Removal for Lambda Sensor Hardwiring?!?

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Don't you just love the lambda sensors connected to the ECU which loves popping up those lovely MCSF messages  Complete balls up in engineering and assembly of this entire unit. Yeah I know Alfa electrics and the setup is generally moaned about here, but still this is getting my back...
