I'm attempting to replace the front dampers on my 166.
The initial dis-assembly was straightforward enough, but I'm stuck on removing the bolt that clamps the damper into the bottom fork. The nut comes off fine, but the bolt itself won't even turn (step 4 in the image below).
I've split the...
Well planing on replacing the front shocks.
How ever the suspenion fork bolt that holds the fork in wont turn.
Tried heat, plusgas etc scared to turn it too much in case it snaps..
Soo any idea what the bolt is called so can order replacements if needed to replace them for when they go snap...
Has anyone replaced the torx bolt on the pinch fork with a standard stainless steel one? Is the thread size 1.25 on the original bolt? Mine doesn't have a nut on the other side and it bolts to the fork itself.
What should be done to replace it with a stainless steel bolt with a different...
Yesterday I started my 2nd clutch replacement. Got from full assembled to fully disassembled in a little over 6 hours so quite chuffed.
Couple of questions related to some things I found:
The gearbox oil when drained had a metallic sheen to it and was very silvery. The oil in...
Can anyone please advise where I can get my hands on a brand new pair of front suspension lower fork bolts?
For some reason the thread on my "good" bolts failed long before they where ar the recomended torque (Recomended, 108nm to 130nm, they failed at just over 100nm).
Same story on my...
Does anyone have a source for the bushes that the selector fork rotates in for a 156 1.9jtd 16v diesel?
Part numbers are:
Top Bush 46756747
Bottom Bush 46756742
Can find some top ones but bottom bushes aren't as easy to come across!
Anyone have the specs for them as they seem to be...

Been trying to fit my lowering springs over the past few weeks but still had no joy.
Last week, removed loads of suspension bits, only to find that the whole suspension leg could not be removed without removing lower suspension arm.
So instead, today i tried to split the lower fork from the...
Last week I fitted two new drive shafts to my 2003 156 JTD 16v.
All went fine and it cured the juddering I had under acceleration.
However, my joy hasn't lasted long! Today, after a quick look underneath, I noticed the drive shaft gaiter/ boot is rubbing against the aluminium fork...
I'm 99% sure my top-mount is shot. Have replaced the wishbones and droplinks and tested the roll bar and it's fine. The noise is knocking/rattling on the drivers side over rough ground and on acceleration/breaking and is often accompanied by a creaking/groaning. I've taken a look at...
Hi, I didn't think my first post would be about this issue. I have a 2000 916 spider 2.0TS. I have a replacement wheel upright with wheel bearing included (as I had a wheel bearing issue) for the O/S/R. Rather than try and press the bearing out, I was offered a upright wheel with bearing in...

Evening, I am in the middle of Replacing and lowering my GT V6 and Obviously the Front Shock Pinch bolt is Seized
So Im gonna buy a Second hand pair of Front Fork/Yokes, so I can still drive my car and sort them out if they need it, then I can easily replace my shocks and that.
Car- 156 2.0 2002 mk 1.
Just been wrestling with the front nearside suspension (fitting new c.v. boot, upper/lower wishbones, new shock and tie link).
I have however come to a grinding halt due to the shock fork thru bolt having been seized solid.
Tried everything to remove the bolt and...
Hi, does anyone know the product code of the two bolts that fasten the ball joint end to the fork end of the rear fork arm? I've looked at ePER and there is no info for these bolts. The thread on the bolts and nuts is worn right down, hence need to replace.
Not sure whether this is a coincidence or not but since the clutch and dual mass flywheel were replaced, I have started having problem engaging the 6th gear.
I am now told to the gear fork selector needs to be replaced. Cost of the part is about £140 + 2.6h of labour !
Does this sound...
