  1. Snapped door handle fixed in 3 minutes

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
The only thing I don't like about this forum section is that the photos aren't displayed and for that I have to go to the "Images" lounge (or pay to become a member) Anyways, as I know a lot of you only search the "147,165 & GT" lounge when problems arise, here's a little quick guide...
  2. Dreaded CODE Light - Fixed

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Helped out a friend today with a non starting 156 V6 Sportwagon. On both keys he was getting the CODE light. He managed to get it home using the 'tapping on the throttle' method. After consulting the 'search' function here I worked out it was probably corrosion on the 'Code Box' connector...
  3. Rear end rattle fixed

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I have had my car for 3 years and it has always had a rattle at the back on the left side, especially over rough ground and speed humps. Sometimes it is loud like a suspension knock, sometimes it is quieter like a loose cable or bit of loose trim. I have had the car up on blocks a couple of...
  4. One problem fixed and then.......squeak!

    Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
After a week of replacing the V6's top hat bushes to address a sticky gear change, of changing the spark plugs and cleaning the throttle body, repairing the air intake flexi hose, I decided to take it for another spin, just to make sure everything was ok with the world....and the rear decided to...
  5. I fixed my 159 with a 3D Printer

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I lost one of the rubber bushes that pushes the bootlid up when you press the badge or key, probably knocked it off while loading/unloading. So I printed a new one! Images: 159 Boot Pusher Upper - Imgur It's printed in a rubber like stock (actually polyurethane), pretty much as squishy as the...

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Took my sportwagen into Autolusso yesterday as the aircon system would not gas up at the last service. Ned has a new bit of A/C diagnostic kit which identified the leak in moments, a good used pipe was sourced off a breaker and fitted, A/C was then regassed all within a couple of hours. It was...

  15. What fixed my tailgate rattle

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Got the GT a couple of months ago and it had an annoying tailgate rattle. After reading the forums found it was a widespread annoyance and tried a few of the suggestions to sort but nothing got rid of the noise. One day when holding the tailgate when opened I noticed a very slight movement made...
  16. Headlight washers fixed, for a fiver.

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
My 'new' 156 had the classic fault were it drained its washer reservoir over a couple of days. After doing some reading it appeared the valve for the washers was leaking and siphoning the water out. Thought I would fix rather than isolate the headlight washers. Solution below, worked a treat...
  17. How I fixed the boot rattle in my GT

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi guys and gals, after a few months of putting up with the annoying rattle noise coming from the boot of my beloved GT, I decided to investigate... From a few threads here and my own detective work I found that it was coming from the small spring loaded stoppers in the boot lid (one on each...

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi all - I've read a few threads about seized brake calipers on here and this was my diagnosed problem a month ago. Honeymoon over with the Mrs and back to the judder gradually returned. 19. Brera 2.4 idling - fixed!

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
After getting my brera the idling was a bit lumpy, it seemed to drop and then something kicked in to bring it up again with a bit of a judder thrown in too! This was happening when it was cold and up to temp. It had an EGR fault when i first plugged the laptop in, so I cleaned that (packed with...
  20. 2.4 Fixed (Almost)

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
So I have been having a bit of trouble lately with cold starting (especially after the car has been sitting for 2-3 hours) and the whole white smoke thing and a rough idle. I then had a problem 2 weeks ago with my turbo pressure dropping when at full acceleration in 4th,5th and 6th gear. So the...
