There used to be a large nut inside the heat exchanger behind the filter thread on petrol models . I want to be able to remove a exchanger on an 8v Diesal Multijet as one of the pipes have cracked so that I can braze it.
I can only see a plane circle on the inner central thread , I presume this...
[156 V6] Replace heat exchanger or install proper oil cooler ?
Following the catastrophic failure of the coolant expansion tank of my 156 2.5 V6 a couple weeks ago, it appears that some oil was present in the coolant.
As I am certain that the motor did not suffer overheating from...
Hi, I have umplugged and blocked my EGR and the car is alot better off.
According to a local club Alfa mechanic there is no point in the EGR now and I want to remove it.
So capping the intake and the exchaust is ok, but the two heating hoses, is there anything I can use there?
Does anyone have a decent one of these as i have a drip of coolant from this where i think the bottom of the metal has weakend and pin holed?
Its for my 2000 Twin Spark not V6
I have read its a pain to replace the pipes but isn't mostly everything tricky on our GTV's :censored:
following on from my other post, I'm now in to the process of removing the old oil heat exchanger but it won't budge.
I've removed the oil filter, the two coolant pipes, and also the two Allen bolts that I weren't sure what they're there for, but removed them anyway.
I'm working in the road...
Hi, my car has started sucking oil into the coolant. I suspect the oil cooler, where the oil filter fits but it doesn't look a great job.
Has anyone tackled these before and if so, what's involved?
I was hoping to get a socket / spanner on the 27mm nut and simply undo but as this is an Alfa...
Hoping the forum can help. I am looking for a mechanic in the Trowbridge, Wiltshire area who can install a new Oil/Coolant Exchanger for me. I believe that I have sourced the part - by using a search engine and my car's reg. Would be very grateful, please...?
What would be the symptoms of oil in the antifreeze/coolant reservoir? It is overflowing and leaking onto the ground. It has been suggested that it may be a problem with the oil coolant heat exchanger. The car has been running fine, no exhaust discolouration or over heating. What sort of cost...

Without the heat exchanger? by joining the water pipes

It and turning it opened although I did put clean oil on the gasket
And hand tighted it less than a year ago.So my problem is now,how do I remove
The oil/water heat exchanger.what size ellen key do I use to remove it the...
Help!! during a more hamfisted moment whilst trying to replace the little blue pipe on the heat exchanger I have bent/ broken the pipe that comes from the thermostat housing :o
I have managed to get a replacemnet but could someone tell me can it be replaced without removing the exhaust manifold...
I'm about to finish my RWD\mid engine project on my 156's, and had maybe silly question.
The hose that runs from the engine block to oil\water exchanger(removed) and ends into thermostat housing, in my opinion can be removed and tapped. If other engine bank miss that coolant gallery, so guess...

I was taking my son home to Reading from South Wales last Monday, When I came off the M4 at J11 I noticed steam coming from the drivers side grill. I looked at the temp gauge and it was rapidly heading to the limit. When I pulled over and had a look I at first thought it was the water...
