    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi all. Livid at the moment. Truly livid. Have a 159 petrol, which had a very slight rocker gasket leak. Took it to a well known Alfa guy. The gasket was replaced, I thought nothing more and I went on a week away. Journey was great and did the 60 miles home. Pulled into my drive, turned off...

  7. Dodgy sensors?

    Alfa Giulietta
Hi! Currently the proud owner of a Giulietta, 61 plate done a fair few miles (80k) and for the past year its been like gliding on a part leather/part cloth cloud :) Up until 3 months ago that is. The fuel injection system light blinks on and off and the car goes into LIMP mode. Stop the car...
  8. Dodgy batch of thermostats

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi guys, Just a quick heads up. I changed the thermostat on my 159 1.9jtdm yesterday and used a Circoli stat from ECP. All went well and I had warm air in the cabin and an engine that was up to temp for the first time in ages until about 1/2 way through the journey home when the plastic...

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Can someone please help! My old 147 (51 plate t spark 2litre) has started making a scraping noise really suddenly on the rear back drivers side wheel! I'm not a confident driver and not sure what to do! Hubby used to sort car but we've split so I need to sort it?? Any ideas?? Thanks
  10. Dodgy windows

    Alfa Giulietta
Hi all During a recent heavy downpour of rain I left my driver side window open and the window control switch got soaked. Since then it started opening the front windows randomly and sometimes I couldnt get them to shut. I managed to get them shut by keep pressing the button but now the main...
  11. My Giulietta - Update. Dodgy water pumps, strut top bearings and Bilstein warning.

    Alfa Giulietta
So this weekend I decided to spend some time on my troublesome Giulietta so that I can stop hating it and start enjoying it. So, first things first, I stripped the engine down and put the old water pump back on. Result! the engine no longer whines up to 3000rpm and has gone back to being...
  12. Dodgy connection fog lights and indicators

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi! I have an odd one in my 156 GTA (so facelift interior) . When I turn on my dipped beams, or flick indicators, the front fog lights turn them selves on / flicker. Like what the ?? 13. Dodgy electrical connection in 156 engine bay

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi all, Over the past couple of weeks my 156 2.0 TS has been randomly failing to start. When i turn the key in the ignition the dashboard lights come on as normal but the engine will not fire up. I have managed to get it started several times by wiggling the the electrical connection circled in...
  14. Dodgy earth? Or alternator dying?

    Alfa GTA
This morning the GTA threw up the 'low battery voltage warning' whilst driving. Took the car home, checked battery voltage at 12.5V with engine off. Fine. But only 12.1V with engine running. Checked battery terminal connections and earth leads on back of plenum and side of engine block, nipped...
  15. Dodgy wiring job to rear bumper

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi all, bit of an issue I'm looking for advice on. I bought my 159 knowing that it had suffered a rear ending and had been repaired. She is a Lusso and the bumper was replaced with a spurious one that was not drilled for parking sensors. Therefore there is a message on the dash all the time...
  16. Dodgy / sticky clutch pedal - 159 1.9 JTDM

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi all, This morning I noticed that my clutch pedal wouldn't return to its normal position - it comes back up about half way. It made it tricky for a pullaway. Once it was used a few times and everything got warmer it seemed to be OK. However, when left idling for a minute, it didn't return...
  17. Dodgy wiper switch?

    Alfa 164 & 166
The wipers on my 166 occasionally (about 1 in 3 times) refuse to work. This is always when you first start the car, the switch does nothing in any position (including the wash/wipe). After a while (about 10 mins this morning) the wipers will start to work, and they will be fine for the rest of...

  19. Dodgy Service Records ?

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
I am on the look out for a GT, preferably with an excellent Alfa Service History. A Blackline has just come up but I am suspicious of its Service Record which is shown online with other pics of the car. There are a number of reasons why I am suspicious: All the dates and mileage are in the...
  20. Nurburgring - dodgy corner or drivers?

    General Motoring Discussion
now here's a interesting thing: same corner at the Nurburgring, yet there seems to be no consistency as to why some cars fall off the track. OK, we can allow for some variables like car type/suspension set-up/quality of tyres/driving skills/weather... but if four cars enter the corner at the...
