Hello People, My 1999 156 oil consumption has gone sky high. Depending on my driving conditions i fill average of 1 liter per 500Km. I can hear engine knocking (hard to notice but obvious enough) when i floor the gas pedal and accelerate, and I had a friend rev the car for me, and I can see...

Now, here's an odd thing - the average fuel consumption on the display always settles out at about 37mpg or so. But I've calculated the real mpg on 3 consecutive tanks of diesel and it's been 47, 44 & 46 mpg. Yes, I can do sums, so what's going on?

When I drove a diesel (for the last 22 years) I was always concerned what the fuel consumption was. In more recent times, even doing tank to tank comparisons to see if the dash computer agrees with reality. My last diesel a 159 1.9 Jtdm was doing 42mpg, I would get rattled when it was...

I did about 400 miles yesterday, mostly motorways with a few minor traffic jams. All seemed well, car behaved itself. Went out this morning to check it was alright and found it had used more than 50% of the oil ! I checked yesterday morning before starting off and it was about 90% up...

Guys, I'm REALLY concerned about the 156's consumption. My previous figures included about 30% highway driving and came in at about 11 litres/100 km. Last week, with the tank almost bone-dry, I put in R300 (almost exactly 21 litres) of 95. Today, also virtually empty, it's sitting on 150 km on...

Since buying the 147 2.0 TS, I've been getting around 450 miles per litre of oil. With the advice of our friends at Opie, I've been using the best makes (Millers, Fuchs, Motul, Gulf) and changing viscosity as I'd thought the problem stemmed from the thickness of oil used. Having changed at the...

Hello everyone ! :) I am very confused because i want to buy a Mito, i'm in love with this car :x , it is fantastic and beautiful and stylish, but i have a huge problem, i ' m not sure what is the real fuel consumption of this car Mito 1.4 TB Multi Air ( 135 HP ) . Should i expect a hight...

My girlfriend's 2007 Mini has had 2 complete oil changes in less than a year, and on the last oil change it had about 1 litre in it...! :wow: Today she calls me saying it has low oil pressure so the local garage has a look and puts another 2 litres in, baring in mind it was changed about 2...

Hi I have a 1999 156 1.8 TS and it proved to be a real gas guzzler, it spends about 15 - 16 litters for every 100 kilometers(city). I tried all the usual stuff to fix it(new MAF,spark plugs, replacing bad thermostat, alignment...), but I didn't get an results.I've had one consistent issue that...

As a new owner of a 1.4 MA how close an eye do I need to keep on the oil level? is it like the old TS which needed constant attention or like my old 2.4D which never used a drop in 3 years.:)

hey everybody, Today when i drive home from work i see mu fuel comsumption meter went so high up my screen. i was driving in 3rth gear an i see my fuel consumption went from 6l/100km to 50L/100! when i press the gas just a little bit. this can not be normal. I never saw this went so high up...

Hi all. Had this car @ 6 weeks now and have done @1400 miles. Even in 'natural' mode and driving feather-footed, I struggle to get an average consumption much above 30-34 mpg, which is a LOT worse than the quoted figures. Just interested to know how others have fared with their fuel consumption...

I'm really confused by this one now. I know these engines like a drink of the brown stuff, but it has used about 2 litres in about 200 miles! It puffs blue smoke abit on start up, then accelerating (not hard) from a standing start through the gears. Once warm, it smokes worse over 3,000rpm but...

I bought 159 SW TBI about year ago in Germany with mileage 32000km, produced in 2009. Now its 49000km. Average consumption is aroung 16,8 mpg(computer shows that)! I rarely drive in traffic, but most of my trips are short and in city. Usual consumption for trip in city 13-14mpg, consumption in...

An odd (but great ;)) thing has happened recently to the Giulietta... Its a 2.0MJ 170 on 18" wheels. Previously it was running at between 46 and 48 mpg on average. We then went to Italy in it (mileage now on 23k). On returning the consumption has jumped to around 51-53 mpg (so a 10% increase)...

What sort of average fuel consumption can I expect from a 3.2 Q4 Brera, currently I seem to be struggling to get more than 22 MPG as opposed to the 28 - 29 I used to get from my Peugeot 406 coupe 3.0 litre? Has anyone here converted to LPG and if so what effect has it had on performance and...

Hiya...... I know the TS has a rep for above average oil consumption, what sort of usage should I be looking at ? Mine is a 2000 2.0TS, with 51000 miles. I bought the car with just over 48000 on the clock 14 months ago and it appears that the oil fairys have been topping up the oil, as the...

There have been so many posts on this forum about bad fuel consumption, this one is the opposite. My GMA 170 TCT now has 11 300 miles on the clock so it should be properly run in by now. In mixed driving I average upwards of 35 mpg very easily. On the open road, if I behave myself and stick...
