  1. Carbs for 1.5ti qv

    Tuning & Upgrades
I have been given a pair of 40mm idf carbs which I believe came off a por ache. I believe I can jet these down and use on my sprint 1.5ti, however what are recommended main and choke jet sizes? Will these carbs fit on standard manifold or do I need an aftermarket item? ( if so does someone have...
  2. Where to get Weber Carbs set correctly?

    The Classic Alfa Romeos
Good afternoon all I'm afraid I'm a combination of ignorant and frustrated on this Weber Carburetor issue. Having had my 2 new Weber carbs fitted a couple of years ago, it is clear they still aren't quite right. They aren't running smoothly especially at the lower end of the revs. Car is a 1988...

  9. Knocking noise through twin carbs

    Alfa 33, Sud & Sprint
Hi all, I recently replaced the airbox with foam 'sock' filters on my 1.7 sprint. I've left the 90 degree intakes so it's literally just the airbox and filter that's changed. With this set up there is now a knocking noise when accelerating under load, mainly between 2-3000 revs. It seems to go...

    Alfa 33, Sud & Sprint
Hi there, I have a 1.7 8v IE block which I want to convert to carbs. Can anyone tell me what's involved in this? I already have the twin carb manifolds, and while all the holes line up, the head seems to have an extra "ear" on the top of the cylinder, which I think is to accomodate the...
  11. Home made manometer for balancing carbs

    The Classic Alfa Romeos
I mentioned in another thread that I had made a simple manometer that worked really well in balancing the dellortos on my S2 spider. I came across it today while having a sort out so took a picture in case it would be useful to anybody wanting to make a similar one. Parts list: plank of wood...

  17. o/s carbs flooding out does the fuel tank need venting?

    Alfa 33, Sud & Sprint
Fitted an electric pump to the sud and engine starts and runs ok but needs carbs balancing etc. If i leave it to tick over, after about 30 seconds the o/s carbs seem to flood with petrol and the engine stops. Take the plugs out on that side and find both wet with fuel and not firing. Ive fitted...

    The Classic Alfa Romeos
Hi all, I'm swapping the Solex carbs out for a set of webers, from a similar aged alfa. Everything is good except that I can't work out where the vacuum advance pipe from the dizzy should go. Any advice please? There are cream/yellow coloured caps on the RHS of both carbs and I wondered if...
