Any one had a failure of belts within 4 or 5 years since the recommended change every 3 years? Just wondered as my car is low mileage last 3 years since belts changed & I have to date thought OK to last 4 or so years.

Anyone know a good source for buying cam locks in Australia. Just bought a 2004 GT 3.2 and cam belt last changed in 2012. Even though it's only done 49,000 since change it's been over 5 years so want to play safe. I plan to keep the GT for a while so happy to buy tools.
  3. Alfa 164 & 166
I found a couple of these in the bottom of a parts box. I think they're the tensioners for the early 3.0 24v used in the 164, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone know for sure if these are 164 tensioners? And if so, how do I test if they still work OK? Both seem to spin freely but I can't work out...

My 159 Q4 cam chain is on 112000, I am daunted by the cost of the clutch and chain going in the same year, I would like to start a survey of how many miles people have got their chains to?

Just had my Cambelt and tensioner etc replaced a couple of weeks ago. Started having a problem with it starting occasionally, with no dashboard fault. Turning over but refusing to fire. On Multiecuscan it came up with RPM Sensor fault. My mechanic said when doing the cambelt change one of the...

Hi - I would like to make a 1700 boxer look like a stock 1500 twin carb. I think I'm correct in saying the heads (and pistons) are different so a simple head swap will not work. To this end is it possible to fit the cam housings from a 1500 to 1700? If so what issues will I face? Thanks :-)

Hi guys, I have to change the cambelt of my bella. What else should I do while doing that? I am thinking of the water pump and maybe swirl flap removal?
  10. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi All, I think i have an oil leak from a cam cover gasket on my 2005 3.2 V6 Busso, i can't quite tell as there is oil tracking all over the place, but i think its from the front cam cover. Are there any gotchas in replacing the cam cover gasket, or is it straight forward? Anyone know the part...

Just about to reassemble my 2.0 JTS motor having had the head skimmed. This being my first JTS, I bought a set of JTS cam locks along with the head gasket set and various other bits and pieces from Alfa Workshop. However - there are no instructions with the locks as to which cam lobes they fit...

  17. Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
Just to give an update on this thread of my exploits in upgrades to my GTV If reading for first tome or to remind you car is a 1999 Phase 2 3.0 CF2. Thus numbers are for a 20 year old car. The idea was to do something a litttle bit to add to the other changes on car mainly handling by a small...
  18. Engines (TS, JTS, JTD & V6)
Hi Can anybody recommend an Alfa specialist in the Banbury area (or Oxford, Northampton, Leamington, Milton Keynes etc) who could replace the cam belt and water pump on a brand new 2.5V6 engine (on a pallet)? Would be good if they could also fit Quaife LSD to gearbox. Even better if they can...
  19. Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
I had the cam belts done a few months ago and have noticed since then intermittent smells of burning oil from the engine department. I can't see any obvious leaks, there is nothing evident under the car. Sniffing around with the bonnet open suggests the smell is from behind the rear cylinder...
