  1. Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
In this thread I'll be documenting the changes that I'm making to the ECU, fuelling and engine wiring of my 1996 Ph1 GTV. Why are you doing this? My car has a bit of a running issue, it stumbles badly under anything more than light acceleration. I probably could have fixed this with replacing...

  5. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
While thinking about engine rebuilds etc. I had a thought. I know that I have read about this on the forum but I cannot find a conclusion. I am considering changing the original maniverter off my JTS to one off a TS and basically use a TS exhaust system with just one cat behind the gearbox. I...

guys, I've always thought that on a petrol car, you check the oil when the engine's off and cold (although when my mate went to collect his new Boxster back in 1997, the Porsche dealer said on that car it should be checked with the engine running - dry sump or something?...I don't remember...

Hope you remember the thread I started last week, to which you all were so helpful and thoughtful. Well here I am again, unfortunately! A few of you suggested checking my Cat, and after a little (big really) fight to get one seized bolt off, I got it off and to my disbelief, it was perfect!!! I...
  15. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Ok. I have a 156 2.5 v6, 1999. I bought it a year ago, and it never felt like 192 bhp! But nevertheless, it was smooth and quite powerful. Then, the timing belt slipped. So, I bought another 156, no tax/MOT, and swapped engines. The power problem still occurs! It revs fairly freely until 5,000...

  17. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Now then, my 156 2.0TS Selespeed has been nothing but well behaved since I got it last year. It has been tenderly cared for and services, but today it had a brain fart! It went like this. I had been out and about all day with friends and had notched up about 90 miles or so in medium length...
  18. Alfa 155
Hi, My 155 has a dead ECU thanks to my Father testing the fan with 12 volts up the temp sensor. I need to find a new one which he will pay for but it seems like a good time to start a policy of regenerate and uprate. Does anyone know of a supplier who can get me a unit that is effectively...

I've just fitted a new battery and connected it up the wrong way round - what's that burning smell - oh **** - if I had a brain I'd be dangerous. Fortunately the car starts fine and everything seems OK except the radio which shows no sign of life - any ideas which fuse it runs off or whether it...
