  1. Coolant bleed screw quick question

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi Guys, My 2008 2.4 has the metal bleed screw already fitted. It was tight to remove to bleed the system after changing the timing belt & water pump. I'm presuming it was fitted by the factory. Did some 159 2.4's leave the factory with the metal bleed screw or did all leave with the plastic...
  2. Clutch Bleeding

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi all, Can anyone point me in the direction of the bleed nipple for the clutch slave cylinder? I have trouble with selecting all gears and the bite point of the clutch is at the floor. After pumping the clutch a few times, gear selection is easy again. This leads me to believe that I have an...
  3. Soft brake pedal/brake bleed

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi there! I have just replaced the front brake flexibles on my V6 GT, following a split in the offside one which resulted in loss of hydraulic fluid and brake pedal to the floor. Luckily only a few hundred yards from home. Having replaced the flexibles and bled the system several times the pedal...
  4. Bleed bolt on 156 broke

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi everyone. Today I flushed the coolant and changed it. At the end I wanted to. Bleed the system with the small plastic bolt in the radiator. But when I turned it the head of it snapped off. I can get it out but need a new one. Any suggestions please? Thanks
  5. 166 trans swap - brakes wont bleed!

    Alfa 164 & 166
hey, i've just more or less completed a trans swap on a 3.0 166 for a friend of mine. the old tranny was presumed to have shattered the TC or damaged the front pump. anyway, he obtained a wreck with a good box. it turns out the wreck also had much better struts and axles, so we swapped the lot...
  6. Replace plastic radiator bleed valve, urgent help required!

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
My engine coolant level has been steadily going down in my '07, 2.4 Brera since I got the car in January. There hasn't been any sign of a puddle etc., until this morning :( Done a bit of reading and poking around under the bonnet, and it looks like the plastic bleed valve on the front coolant...

  8. 2.0 jts GT clutch Bleed?????????

  10. Bleed nipple, rear - what size

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
OK, the spanner width is 11 mm. I have found 2 types of bleed nipples with 11 mm spanner width: M10x1, 36 mm long M10x1, 30 mm long Which one is correct? It is a 2000 year model.
  11. Where do you bleed the clutch from?

    Alfa 164 & 166
I have just replaced the brake fluid using my new Eezybleed system which worked very well. Once it was pressurised from an old spare wheel (15 psi) it was simply a case of cracking open each bleed nipple in turn, letting some fluid drain out, closing each nipple in turn and then removing the...
  12. Clutch bleeding notes

    Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
One of the things I'd noticed with my '98 TS Spider (now on the road) is that the clutch pedal would end up rather low most of the time. Lifting the pedal with my toe would restore normal operation for a few uses. There was a bottle of brake and clutch fluid in the boot - always an interesting...

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi My clutch pedal is slack for about half of the travel.......the biting point is at the bottom of the pedal. The slave cylinder doesn't look to be moving the arm enough so was gonna see if bleeding the system would help? I might be totally off track but the clutch is only 8 months old and the...

  18. bleed screw/overheating issue

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light. At the beginning of the week my Brera 2.4JTDM overheated at traffic lights and steam was pouring out. The bleed screw was missing and water/coolant was spurting and spitting out from the top of the pipe. The AA recovery guy came and did a...
  19. Siezed bleed nipple - front calipers

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Bleed nipple is completely seized. I'm hearing lots of 'methods' (soaking WD40, gentle heat etc.) but I'm convinced that I'm going to shear it if I'm not careful. Any ideas? When/if I do budge it, how easy is it to replace the nipple entirely, and does anyone have the part number? Cheers!
  20. Didn't manage to bleed the clutch...

Alfa GTV & 916 Spider I made this instead, while I wait for the offset ring spanners to arrive in the post: Perhaps a Monday morning laugh :D The story must be told...
