  3. Alfetta GT seat belts

    The Classic Alfa Romeos
I had a lovely drive in the GT today, but rather alarmingly the seatbelts do not seem to latch when you yank the belting. Also, this car has some wierd seat belts that involves fitting the bare webbing into a kind of scissor-jaw latch, which is both uncomfotable if you are in a traffic jam on...

  7. Problem with jts and belts

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hello all my first post as a Alfa owner. I have a 2005 156 jts. I am after a little pointer and I think I have messed up. I have just done a cam belt change with all the correct tools but when I have gone to turn the engine over by hand it seems to lock even with spark plugs out. I think what I...
  8. Timing belts again

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I know everybody must be fed up with this topic but mine is now due for change. So I have trawled through all the adverts and noticed a comment somewhere about the water pump. It said that this one was a metal, not a plastic drive I guess (I remember my V6 had a plastic impeller that cracked...
  9. OEM seat belts

    The Classic Alfa Romeos
Hi there, Can anybody give me a source for the original Sabelt seat belts fitted to my S3 Spider please? Currently retrimming the entire interior and some of the belt components (particularly the plastic sheath for the belt/buckle fixed to the transmission tunnel) look a bit shabby. I might add...
  10. Cam belts

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
It's that time when I need to change the cam belt. But I've been looking at parts and there are 2 for the gt jtd. One with 198 teeth and 1 with 199 teeth. How do I know which one I need. And secondly what are the symptoms of having the timing out by as little as 1 tooth???????
  11. Replacing Seat Belts

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hello folks, I am trying to replace the front seat belts on my 159. I searched the site and found similar posts but I am having some difficulty. I have unscrewed the upper nut attaching the B pillar cover, I then used a car tool to pop the 2 catches at the top and loosen the cover. The problem...

  13. 156 SW surging after service, belts and MOT

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
My wife recently moved from an 02 spider to her current 156 Sportwagon and after having a lot of work done by the dealer before we bought it, the car surged a great deal from 1800rpm through to 2200 if you were heavy on the pedal or much much further if you took it easy. If you ran the fans in...
  14. Alfetta GTV rear seat belts

    The Classic Alfa Romeos
Here I am asking for advice again. It seems I've been asking more than I've been helping others but hopefully that will change in the future as I get to know the car better! Is there anyone in this forum with an Alfetta GTV with inertial rear seat belts? Mine didn't have any but did have all...
  15. Timing belts.

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Is there anyway, apart from a blown motor, you can tell if your belts need changing. Mine is overdue by 10k and runs really well. Should i change them for the sake of changing.
  16. seat belts

    Alfa 164 & 166
Right all my belts are 20 yrs old and getting sluggish to pull and the rears constantly lock while trying to pull them out. Is there anything I can do to make them better or is it a simple case of replacement. I looked at some from a 166 but its cheaper to buy brand new securon replacement kits...
  17. Whining Noise - 156 JTS - Belts?

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Hi all, Done a quick search of the forums and it seems this is a fairly common problem on the JTS's - just looking for a bit of a point in the right direction. Over the course of the last few weeks the engine has developed a very loud whine. It's always been there to some extent, but has...
