My Alfa 147 uses the engine in the title. What I want to know is, can I transfer over the 2.0L throttle body, and inlet manifold easily. Dont want to install the 2.0L head due to my engine only recently got 50k miles on a 10 yr old lump.
It's been one of the hottest days so far this year and I went to drive off in my 2001 1.6L 147 last night and the MCSF light came on, the car idled terribly and went into limp mode as I drove down the road.
Drove the car back and plugged her in to my Torque app (quick and easy) and...
Looked in my owners manual for the correct spec battery for my 2001 1.6L 120BHP 147 and I can't find it anywhere in the book.
The battery that came out the car is a Banner 62Ah @ 540CCA, measurements 240mm x 170mm x 175mm
But it died a little while ago so I used a 60Ah 570CCA out...
Bit of background - I'm 21 and have a budget of 5k (including insurance). I've looked at tons of different cars and I'm convinced that the Alfa Romeo 147 is the car for me.
To keep insurance low, I'm keen to get a 1.6L. If someone could summarise the different versions of the 147 1.6L...
The title says it all, is it possible to swap the 1.6L with the early 2000 156 2.0L engine? What I can see is that the engine specs of the 156 is the same as the one in the 2.0L 147. The 156 engine has just over 100000km's on it and the whole engine was redone (costed R20000). Any help or advice...
Swapping a 147 1.6 engine for a 2.0
In an earlier post I mentioned that after some rather horrible noises, my 1.6l died. The thrust washers were in the sump for the second time. This was discovered by the workshop to which we took the car to do its clutch. The clutch was not the problem as it...

I've driven 80+ miles to a hotel to pick up some family members for a wedding at which I'm meant to be the main photographer. After a 10 minute wait (while the ladies get their hats together) we pile into my 147 to go to the ceremony. I turn the key and the starter motor...
Thought I'd mention this as I don't think they come up to often by the local breaker has a decent 1.6l boxer engine for sale:

Just thought I would describe my latest glich in case anyone else had a similar issue.
Yesterday, my 147 wouldn't start. It had been running fine throughout the cold snap we've been having in the UK, and last weekend I'd done my normal oil, tyres, coolant checks and then parked it...
Has anybody tried fitting a 156 manifold to a 147 1.6L. I was thinking of doing this convertion with a slight increase in diameter on the overall pipes. Maybe a increase of 0.15inch and a long pipe connecting to the 2 to 1 pipes. Please advise
I'm a new member from Cyprus and I want to purchase a used 147. The reason is of course the driving thrills that this car can give and secondly the looks, which I think are much better than the new 147 model.
Can anybody help me on my buying choices? Things to look before buying, advices and...
I just found out about this forum and promptly joined in.
As the title says I have a 146 (1996 model) 1.6L.
It has depreciated to almost nothing but I still like it. It's neeeding some work though (77000 miles) and I find myself in the situation of dreading going to the local Alfa...
I discovered/was reminded today that there is a 105bhp model and a 120bhp model of the 1.6 l 147
What is the difference performance-wise? Is the spec different too?
Also is the 105bhp version slooooow (sorry Dave!)
My job contract ends at the end of this month, (discovered yesterday) so...
Did you notice that when you drive in fifth gear (e.g 9 l/100kM) and you take out the gear( which in this case the fuel consumption must be ----) the display shows a fuel cons of 7.5 l/100kM?
I've seen Peugeot 307 and the fuel consumption start after 30 kM/h speed.
Is there something wrong with...
I am looking into getting a older 145, and i was wondering about the cost of servicing the car.
In particular i wanted to know about the 60,000 mile service. Does anybody know how much this would cost (aprox).
Thanks in advance.
