  1. 159 2.4 JDTM oil leak help

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi Paddy, I had a similar leak on my 2.0 jtdm. It was the seal on the dipstick where it enters the sump. If it is that, then it's a straightforward fix.
  2. new member in need of badges

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Try shop 4 parts and alfaworkshop. They usually have badges. They can be quite expensive though.
  3. Brera 210 PS 2.4 DIESEL

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I can recommend Northern Alfa. It's on the edge of South Yorkshire, near Doncaster
  4. 1.9 or 2.0 diesel

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
The 2.0 comes in 170 bhp as well as 136bhp. The lower power engines may not have the F40 gearbox. One of the flaws of the 2.0 is the poor throttle response in 1st and 2nd gear. It's at its worst when cold, but improves as the engine warms up.
  5. Mileage, Clutch and DMF status - on 159 2.0 JTDM

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Car. 2.0 jtdm sportwagon lusso 2010 Miles. 82000 Original clutch and dmf
  6. 159 Estate - any good as a long term drive?

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
How big is the dog? The SW has a raised lip on the rear loading bay which would be difficult to jump up to. I don't have roof bars ,but use roof bars directly fixed to the roof. They work very well for carrying cycles. They don't leave scuff marks.
  7. All Blue&ME direct links. Plus Blue&Me gen. 2 question and 6.0 link request

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I use a tecknet Bluetooth FM transmitter for playing Spotify from my phone. It fits well into the centre console cigar lighter in the 159. The sound quality is surprisingly good and I get very little interference. They are about £15.
  8. Alfa 159 Sportswagon 1.9 Diesel

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi Stuart. The official mats have a fixing into the floor which stops them moving about. It makes them worth the extra cost
  9. Trim spec's

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
The GT is much lighter than the 159, so there is a big difference in fuel consumption (even with the diesels) and feel of the car. The lusso trim suits a more comfortable ride. The TI is lower for better handling . I would be happy with either spec and be more concerned about the...
  10. SW TI TBI - wont sell!

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
When I was looking for one, I looked for a replaced clutch/dmf as well as a refurbished M32 gearbox. If this has been done, then emphasize it. (It would also justify the price.) I would change some of the interior photos as there is too much light/shade to make them clear.
  11. 2 lift-o-mat rear dampers for the bootlid

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I had the SGS struts but found them a bit overpowered. They also use a fiddly pin to fix the strut. The genuine struts from Alfa workshop work perfectly and are very easy to fit.
  12. Bike racks for Brera

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
The other option is a detachable towbar and cycle carrier. I use this as well as roof bars on my 159 sw. I would avoid anything that straps a carrier to the tailgate. You can carry up to 4 bikes on a towbar carrier.
  13. Imminent Alfa 159 owner

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I can recommend Gareth at Northern Alfa. He's based in Oldcotes which is the northern tip of Nottinghamshire.
  14. 159 boot release

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
There is an emergency pull cord under the left rear seat. It's under the cushion.
  15. Favour for a 156 owner?

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Ok. . Sorry about the misunderstanding. Length 655 mm at bottom of window. Triangle section is 180 mm
  16. Favour for a 156 owner?

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Sorry. Meant Convex ( not concave)
  17. Favour for a 156 owner?

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
The length from tip to centre of spindle is 405mm. The main arm is 365mm from the hinge . Measured on 159 sportwagon. Changing the rubber is usually straightforward as suggested above. You have to make it long enough to keep some spring in the blade hanger. It should be slightly concave when...
  18. Has anyone retro fitted auto lights and auto dimming interior mirror?

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I wouldn't bother with the auto lights. I disabled mine when disabling the auto wipers. (Would suggest avoiding the auto wipers.) The self -dimming mirror is no great shakes either. I still prefer manual controls (I'm possibly stuck in the wrong decade.)
  19. 159 first car?

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
The cambelt price is about right. The water pump must be replaced. Look for an Alfa independent garage to do it , rather than the cheapest garage. I'm not sure that a diesel 159 would suit you though. It's a heavy motorway cruiser and not a short distance runabout. A lightweight buzzy petrol...
  20. 159 2.0 JTDm ride height?

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Hi . I have a sportwagon so may not be ideal match. 2.0 jtdm lusso 2010 unaltered. Front is 38cm centre wheel to top of wheel arch Rear is 39 cm Stephen
