  1. 147 GTA boot gas struts

    Alfa GTA
Thanks. It's the lift at the top that these SGS Engineering struts struggle with so might find some Marellis. Sent from my TA-1012 using Tapatalk
  2. 147 GTA boot gas struts

    Alfa GTA
Dan, the ones you bought, do they lift the boot all the way up without you having to help?
  3. GTA used as a daily... Salt... Winter... Worry

    Alfa GTA
Daily GTA driver here too. Pretty much the first thing I did when I bought her was take her to this place for a full body treatment. https://www.jrclassics.co.uk/ It was expensive at the time but it's been money well spent as I've not had any rust issues since...
  4. 147 GTA vid

    Alfa GTA
I've been following this guy for a while now and he releases some good content. He did a vid on an SZ the other day too. Sent from my TA-1012 using Tapatalk
  5. Are 147 GTA dampers the same as regular 147 dampers?

    Alfa GTA
As above, I'm wondering if there is anything specific to 147 GTA dampers. From what I can see the part numbers are the same so I assume they are the same?! Stupid question?!!!
  6. Help, upper wishbone replacement

    Yes.
  7. What have you done to your GTA today?

    Alfa GTA
Put the rear wheels on again after painting my rear calipers at the weekend.
  8. Boot & Bonnet gas struts

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
What are you guys fitting these days? I have a 147 GTA and both front and rear need replacing. I've found some OEM bonnet stays on partsworld https://www.partsworld-uk.com/collections/alfa-romeo-147-spare-parts/products/bonnet-stay-strut-147-gt and some on the sgs-engineering website...
  9. What have you done to your GTA today?

    Alfa GTA
Yes, that's what I've ended up going with. I originally wanted to keep it all OEM but there's no chance of it happening again with the silicone hose so went with that. Sent from my TA-1012 using Tapatalk

Failed it's MOT due to "Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases". Whoops! That'll also explain why it sounds like a tractor on cold starts. It was apparently leaking at a join near the front manifold somewhere - I didn't see where. They quoted 0.5 hours labour but they needed an hour in...
  11. Help, upper wishbone replacement

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
I recently got two TRW top arms delivered for £71.31 https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/trw/2202572 https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/trw/2202571
  12. Wizard quad exhaust for 147 GTA.

    Alfa GTA
Interested. Questions: Is the exhaust flow split equally between L+R pairs? Reason I ask is because I have a Ragazzon / Autodelta quad system at present and the exhaust gases (visible when cold) only appear to flow through the right hand pipes. Would it not be possible to 'tuck' the join...

Suplex springs (Alfaworkshop - wanted genuine but no stock) and already had Bilstein B6 dampers.
  14. What have you done to your GTA today?

Out in the rain this morning finishing fitting my new standard height front springs and front top arms. Behold the comfort, behold the ground clearance!!! Fear not the speedhump for he is now my best friend :D Should have done this aaaages ago. Rear springs to go on at the weekend. Also...
  15. Changing front springs - damper rod not centred

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
What that man said /\ /\
  16. Changing front springs - damper rod not centred

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Purely for practicality reasons. I'm tired of the ally undertray hitting speedhumps and occasionally catching the front splitter. Don't get me wrong, I much prefer the lowered looks and if I used the car in a location with no speedhumps or curbs, etc I'd keep it as it is.
  17. Changing front springs - damper rod not centred

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Thank you chaps, that makes sense. I'll bolt them to the car after my new top arms have arrived and cross my fingers that they centre a bit better. Sent from my TA-1012 using Tapatalk
  18. What have you done to your GTA today?

    Alfa GTA
Attempted to replace my 30mm front lowering springs with standard springs but had to admit defeat when I couldn't work out why when bolted up, the damper bump stop and rod weren't centred in the spring. I posted a cry for help in the 147 section here. Any advice welcome!! Also found the cause...
  19. Front suspension creak - not the upper wishbone?

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
Just to add to this, my upper arm bushes have been squeaking for some time now so I took them off and had a look at them. By removing the metal inner of the bush you can see that the crosshatching of the rubber has worn away on one side. Part of me thinks it'd be a shame to ditch the entire...
  20. Changing front springs - damper rod not centred

    Alfa 147, 156 & GT
So I'm replacing my 30mm lowering springs for standard springs and when I tighten the top nut up the damper rod is way over to one side. Using Bilstein B6 Sport dampers. It's really odd and I can't see where I'm going from. Any ideas?
