  1. Tyres for the Quadrifoglio

    Alfa Giulia
That could certainly be the case although there were quite a few other cars set off behind me which I never saw again. It's unlikely they were all on Corsas but who knows?
  2. Tyres for the Quadrifoglio

    Alfa Giulia
You must still have quite young children Nick. I've just had to take a refresher course on nursery tales! I'd forgotten the details. Yes they certainly get hot but in my experience on a dry track even when they are "melting" as you put it ( I more generously prefer to describe it as "giving...
  3. Tyres for the Quadrifoglio

    Alfa Giulia
I had a 20 minute session trackday at Donington Park in early April. It was part of a larger event so track time was limited. It was raining and only 4 deg C and I was on part worn Corsas and not feeling entirely relaxed. The first couple of laps were taken very cautiously, in accordance with...
  4. Help: Brake service caused faults!

    Alfa Giulia
This is a strange one because I have recently changed my Quad front pads without any warning lights being displayed whatsoever. Because of the "brake by wire" aspect of this car I probably would have avoided changing them myself until I saw a video by Auto Fanatic who was trying out different...
  5. QV Insurance

    Alfa Giulia
Hmmm! Unless you are unreasonably young, which seems unlikely if you have held your license for forty years, then it must be down to your postcode. Have you any naughty points on your license?
  6. QV Insurance

    Alfa Giulia
Also in the £360.00 area with Aviva Plus. I can't see any mention of being un-insured if I use Race Mode ( I think they would have to make that very clear) but they have sneaked in an extra £500.00 compulsory excess on top of the voluntary excess figure, which I don't remember being so high from...
  7. QV Brake Pad Wear

    Alfa Giulia
Yes! My car was on 28,000 (which included one track day) when I changed them, so 9,000 miles is going some.
  8. QV Brake Pad Wear

    Alfa Giulia
I would say you'll be fine for the weekend and sometime after that, if driven cautiously. I changed my front pads recently because of an upcoming track day and they still had about 4mm of pad depth left, although the warning light had not yet triggered so I can't say exactly when that occurs...
  9. Coil Spring Height

    Alfa Giulia
I don't know if this is any help to some of you but I've just taken some measurements from my March 2017 Quad. Using a metal straight edge, pressed with firm finger pressure across the top of the tyres at the highest point, the gap between that straight edge and the highest part of the wheel...
  10. About to Buy. What else do I need to ask for?

    Alfa Giulia
It is quite easy to check the ECU connectors for yourself so long as you are reasonably confident with under bonnet work. Have a look at the QV water ingress thread page 23, post 568 where I have described exactly this procedure. You'll need a pair of proper hose clamp pliers. £10 from...
  11. Tyres for the Quadrifoglio

    Alfa Giulia
I'm sticking with the Corsas for now, not least because I bought the full set of four back in June so the fronts are waiting to be used. I appreciate what is being said about the Michelins but I didn't really have a problem with the Corsas last winter. It's not a daily driver for me so when I...
  12. Tyres for the Quadrifoglio

    Alfa Giulia
No where near as evenly as you Hamfisti, but I did change my rears at 17,000 back in June which looks similar to you. My fronts are still on there though with an outrageous 23,000 miles under their belts. A trackday tomorrow should put paid to them though!
  13. Giulia QV chrome tailpipes warranty claim

    Alfa Giulia
Good work! You can't beat a bit of elbow grease. Just keep on top of it whenever you wash the car and I'm pretty sure it won't require very much effort.
  14. QV Bonnet clips

    Alfa Giulia
I'd never noticed before, but no, they're not the same. The drivers side fitting (UK) has an extra cable operated clasp. If you took that extra clasp away though the fittings are otherwise the same. They both have another cable underneath operating a separate mechanism. Curious!
  15. Quadrifoglio Collision Warning (is rubbish)

    Alfa Giulia
It does sound as though yours is behaving differently to my car. In over a year of driving it has never once activated the brakes. I get the honking sound if I allow myself to get a bit too close to a vehicle turning left, for instance. The sort of situation where you can see that by the time...
  16. Quadrifoglio Collision Warning (is rubbish)

    Alfa Giulia
You can disable it completely if you go into the menu I think. Mine's set to medium sensitivity and I have to say it's pretty good. I wouldn't dream of switching it off.
  17. QV water ingress in the ECU

    Alfa Giulia
Me too! Might see you there. I'll keep an eye out for your car which seems to be identical spec to mine inside and out. There could be a few though.
  18. Boot rubber bumper thing

    Alfa Giulia
Mine's not covered over so you probably are going mad!
  19. QV water ingress in the ECU

    Alfa Giulia
Just to clear this area of confusion up, I've collected my car today after having the new scuttle and a new fuel flap fitted. Palmers have confirmed that the part no they used to order the scuttle was indeed the MacGeek no 156140123 As to the numbers listed above and actually stamped on the...
  20. QV water ingress in the ECU

    Alfa Giulia
You're welcome Macca. I quite like a bit of over engineered when it comes to plastic scuttles and I certainly prefer it to the one we've got at the moment. It would be really easy to attach some black tubing to vent the water wherever you please, for the OCD DIYers amongst us (not me...
