  1. New grill/scudetto for the 159.

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
Wow, this thread was a great read. Credit to the OP for a painstaking approach to a new look. The stock look is always for me, but to each their own and nobody can say the results aren't interesting and unique. I fitted some similar mesh to the front grill of a '72 Fiat Spider many years ago.
  2. What have you done to your 159/Brera/Spider today?

I'll give it a go at some stage, thanks. I got the Blue&Me working but the experience isn't great for the caller at the other end.
  3. Alfa 159 headlamp conversion

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I'd have thought a 159/Brera's headlamps were it's most distinctive feature. The main design cue that sets them apart from the crowd.

That's both useful and annoying to discover! I was changing the bulb in the carpark of Halfords when my clip went AWOL.

Changed a headlamp bulb today. Undid the clip no problem, popped the old bulb out, and the new one in.... went to clip it in only to discover the clip had gone awol. I just assumed the bit of the clip that you didn't release would be attached to the bloody car - but no. And now it's rattling...

Was it a pain getting the wire hidden on it's way up there? I assume a trim bit or two had to come off?

    I must give it a go. :)

After repainting a caliper 10 days ago, I took the wheel off again to apply the Alfa decal I ordered. Makes such a big difference. 1 down, three corners to go! I also installed the CTAARBT001 bluetooth kit. (In the dark, I might add). Works perfect with my phone for music/podcasts etc. Pairs...
  9. Turn AC to single zone on 2009 159?

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I tried this earlier too after reading this thread... also happy to confirm it works! And my 9 year son insists on sitting in the front as to him heated seats are the most exciting thing this side of Santa. (And after upgrading from a 36 yr old Porsche mid-winter, I'm not far behind him )

  11. F40 or M32 - which one i have?

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
See my recent post here: https://www.alfaowner.com/threads/what-have-you-done-to-your-159-brera-spider-today.346138/post-17540657 I was confirming gearbox and you can see F40 (if you have one) stamped if you shine a torch down beside the battery compartment.

I know it because I was having a big Alfa chat over my recent purchase with one of the lads in the garage beside me in work, and he whipped out his phone to show me that GTA! That dealer always has top quality cars. I love a classic and they only seem to stock the best. Well wear!
  13. A little upgrade and a question

    Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
I was intrigued by the wood trim so I'd googled 159 wood trims. I love wood in classics. Not sure about it in an 159 but would love to see it in real life. And always to each their own in what people like. :) I had a Fiat Spider with a proper functional wood dash. It also had an old school...

Obviously the original wasn't full of holes, but it was pretty faded. Five quid from eBay makes a big difference. :) Thanks to threads on alfaowner for tips on the change!

I just used a wire brush. I don't have the skills (or courage) to remove the caliper so it was done in situ. To be honest, I just wanted a half decent job that was an improvement on what I had. Detailing isn't my thing but if I can make something look a bit sharper I'll give it a go. Got my...

I've spend many hours in the pursuit of functioning electric windows (though not on an Alfa). Few greater joys than watching them go up and down like they are supposed to. I hope yours stay fixed... Manually winding windows never caused the same problems!

Had a go at freshening up a caliper (only had time to do one!) Happy enough with how it turned out, although I'd have preferred a deeper red. Have ordered the decals to put on. Also used some hammerite on the hat and hub where it was looking a bit rough. Shame the alloys let the setup down.

Thanks, alfaitalia. I know you told me that in another thread and I had faith in your advice and went with it. I just ran across a throwaway comment in here yesterday from someone whose mechanic [allegedly] had worked on a 2.0 with the M32. Gave me the yips so I had to verify for myself. :hehe:

First odd job done on my new (to me) 159. Tightened the wobbly gearknob, thanks to an old thread in here. That'll make a nice difference on the drive to work tomorrow morning. While I was out there, I shone a torch in the bowels of the engine bay to finally determine the gearbox. I read...

Thanks David. Online car communities are one of the best things about owning an old, or unusual car. This forum is no exception, and much of the advice here shaped my purchase. Looking forward to contributing as well as learning. :rotate:
