      I’ve had the same issues, these work well! Bizarrely on the old battery it was the negative, and the positive in the new one (different make). These solved the issue:

      Thanks Giblets. I paid my dealer for new clamps which they fitted along with a new battery (under 5 year warranty) due to the new clamps not fitting the old battery (9 year old car). All's well...
